Sunday Supplement : What is the FA Cup worth to Swansea City ? on 11:03 - Jan 24 with 881 views | onehunglow | Good article and yeah,Cooper should be asking questions as of the money. With a little foresight, this really could be our year to get back. Hourihane coming in will help and if we keep our main players free of major injury I honestly believe we could get over the line but Brentford really do concern me. I have no problems with any of the other contenders but Brentford have real momentum so this week's clash with them, for me,is our biggest game for some time as it will really set our mark in the sand.

Game time is important but so it training under the correct coaches and iroing out defecrts in trainng. Loans seem to b a final "finishing school" for players like Rodon, James and Brandon Cooper. For Jack Evans, Cian Harries it was last act before departure. For Asoro it seems "you are on your own mate". Joe Lewis is still work in progress and is an older lad helping the u23. He had 10-15 games at Torquay last season.

Our recruiting process and home grown players is absolutely superb, five goals scored yesterday all from the Swansea system. That’s fantastic.

Matt Grimes had played 58 games for Exeter City before he turned 20. Just because we poached and held him back in our development team for 4 years, it does not mean he is "from the Swansea system".

He was carefully developed by Cameron Toshack and co, put out on loan, nurtured and Carefully managed. As you agree over four years. Now we see the benefits. Like it or not spending four years with Toshack winning serious U23 trophy’s along the way is being a part of the Swansea system. Say what you like about Huw Jenkins but his signing of Grimes was spot on. You need to be more positive about Swansea success stories. Jamal Lowe, was he poached ? Ayew ? In fact every signing that’s been good for the club ? Honestly your quality that’s for sure. Grimes is a fantastic example of a player who has been developed and looked after by our club, say what you like, We’ve got history for being excellent with young players. They don’t need to be in nappies when they sign for this club, and those that have you don’t seem to have a lot of time for. [Post edited 24 Jan 2021 17:04]

Sunday Supplement : What is the FA Cup worth to Swansea City ? on 17:41 - Jan 24 with 623 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Players that have done the "hard yards" in the academy seem a lot better prepared than players imported from other youth set ups. Take Dan James and Joel Asoro. Both are super quick both have good skills. James is a Manchester Utd and Asoro is nowhere. Cardiff trained players like Cameron Coxe and up to recently Mark Harris have struggled to get into the first team. Declan John was drummed out of the club once it was understood the "non negotiables" were not in place. Very few players that come into the first team look out of place. Maric, De Boer Jack Evans Aaron Lewis were given chances and did well but not well enough. Most clubs get one good player from a batch . Swansea get two or three.

In Grimes own words his attitude wasn’t good enough. He went out on loan playing Billy Big Bollocks thinking he was just going to walk into the side and play every week. He didn’t. In fairness to him though he’s grown up quickly and turned into the perfect pro and is reaping the rewards and thoroughly deserves it.

He is. The fact many disagree with him make him a must read as you can read the mindless chummy shyte all over the place any time you want. We need differences of opinions otherwise this board has no meaning

How is that so? The young players we imported from other youth set ups (that broke into the first team) in recent years are James, McBurnie, Fulton, Byers, Grimes, Asoro, Celina, Latibeaudiere, Garrick and Dhanda (I've probably forgotten a few more). Then there are the huge group of players we have loaned from other academies (Guehi, Woodman, Brewster etc). We have had very few players who have spent the majority of their footballing history in Swansea's academy (or centre of excellence) break in to and establish themselves in the first team in recent years. Roberts and Rodon managed to do so. Cabango looks like he is fully established in the first team now. There might be one or two more however I can't remember them off the top of my head. Potter Rodon Roberts James Cooper (1) Cabango Garrick Copper (2) Cooper B, Cooper O and Cullen. In professional game A Lewis. (Lincoln) De Boer (Den Haag) Garrick and James were 16 or so. Garrick from non league. He learned his game at Swansea.

Cabango joined us in 2018. He's from Cardiff and had been with the Newport youth set up until coming here.
