Old Tuck Shop 80's sweets 16:39 - Apr 21 with 4304 views | 9MilesHigh | Bear me with me here as I have got the worst memory ever but I'm trying to remember the name of a sweet from back in my school days. They came in thin, but solid (if not a bit brittle) strips, maybe an inch and a half/two inches tall, from memory goldeny-yellow in colour and tightly wrapped and if they'd been in your blazer pocket all afternoon, sometimes a bugger to rip the wrapper off. I think they were cola-based in flavour, but not exactly cola if that makes any sense at all. I've got maybe a burgundy colour wrapper in my head but this is where it's getting really fuzzy. Done the google search but can't seem to find them, they've probably been long discontinued but I used to love them.... and want one now. Anyone?
Old Tuck Shop 80's sweets on 16:42 - Apr 21 with 3863 views | 9MilesHigh | In my head I thought they were also called Refreshers but it seems there's loads of sweets that's been called Refreshers and the ones I've found online aren't the same. Our school loved them, everyone seemed to have them.

You had to have gnashers like a reef shark to make a dent in the bloody things!

Up til I was 12 we had a sweet shop, I had a bag full of "free" sweets every day. I shouldn't have any teeth left but somehow I still have most of them!

The one I am on about have clearly been discontinued for many a moon. I've searched high and low online but nothing. I know though, that if my mother still has one of my old school blazers somewhere there'd be one melted into the inside pocket still 40 years later!

These things used to melt, it was almost a medical operation trying to remove the wrapper.

So they're not the ones in the picture on my link? You'd have to buy the whole box at !2.95 though.

They were nice. You must remember the ones I'm on about, you're an old fart like me. Inch and a half tall, rectangular but thin, maybe 15mm diameter, about the size of your ring finger. Could chew them or suck them til they disappeared. Could last a whole lesson sucking one to the end. It's bugging me.

No, they weren't and you should be ashamed of yourself growing up in a sweet shop for not knowing ;-)

God no... haha About a quarter of the girth of a drumstick with no plastic stick, just brittley "chew", depending on temperature too brittle to chew though. Sure they were in a burgundy wrapper.

I’m struggling now. I do have a vague recollection of a peanut and toffee combo that may possibly fit the bill? Truth be told you’d have found me sat on the grass bank at breaktime sharing a Player’s No.6 rather than a bag of sweets.

Haha no, not sherbert. A finger size brittle stick, cola-ish flavour (but i'm even doubting myself with that now) I'll have to ask some school mates.
