Ex Wales captain and Plaid General Election candidate missed out on FIFA place 16:37 - Apr 22 with 860 viewstrampie

Wales professor Laura McAllister just missed out on getting elected to FIFA council, she lost out to the sitting candidate from football super power Italy who has links with Juventus, Fiat and the likes, she was an Alpine skier.

Impressive prof McAllister never missed a Wales game for several years and is now often on TV as an expert being asked about politics, she stood as Plaid Cymru candidate in the 1987 General Election in Bridgend.

Some observers thought that the European Super League fiasco might swing it against the sitting Italian candidate due to her links with people involved in the super League but FIFA still voted in the Italian over the Welsh candidate.

It makes sense. Does Wales even have a fully professional football league? I'm amazed she was even allowed to stand.

The League of Wales has at least one professional team and Wales is an affliated nation whether you like it or not. Despite the country's size it is currently punching well beyonfd its weight at international level with predominatly players born in Wales who happen to be Wales's best players. So what is your amazement based on?

Are you prejudiced against Welsh football?

"Are you prejudiced against Welsh football?"

No. I do not believe that a principality that doesn't even have its own fully professional football league should represent all members of UEFA at FIFA Council meetings.

I suspect a sizeable minority of members of EUFA do not have fully professional leagues. It is a matter of being the best and most capable adminstrator surely? Irrespective of race gender faith and professionalism of the league of the home country.

Your shout is discrimatory against members from small league countries.
