Nobody is worked up about it.
It happens every year.

Good to ensure the gammons always remember he was born in Turkey and never visited England.
Just saying .... 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Yes it happens every year but if it doesn't work people up, why mention it. Come on Kilk you never waste an opportunity to knock the English, it's your favourite thing. Don't pretend you're not worked up, the OP certainly semed worked up, even said "hate" in one post. Hate is by definition worked up

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Don't make out it hasn't got you worked up, a thread about St George, on St Georges day, moaning about a stretch of water named after him.

Come on mun, pull the other one.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

St George might be hailed as a national hero, but he was actually born — in the 3rd century AD — more than 2,000 miles away in Cappadocia (modern day Turkey). He is thought to have died in Lydda (modern day Israel) in the Roman province of Palestine in AD 303.

Except he was a Turk .... 🇹🇷

So Turkey didn’t exist when he was born? 😉

In the 3rd century Cappadocia was Hellenistic, maybe that's why he's described as Greek. A quick google shows that around that time the Iranians were exerting influence. Turkey came into being in 1923.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

As Turkey did not exist until 1923 he could not be Turkish. Even the otterman empire did not exist until 13th century. He was born in the Roman empire.

Your grasp of Turkish history is as bad as your knowledge of British, Welsh and Irish history 😀.

He has a hard enough time understanding 1974! No wonder there is so much that's lost on him!

Well yes, you would guess that, because anything further back than 1975 is ancient history to you.

1923 must be prehistoric.
