The North Bank Roof on 15:02 - Oct 13 with 802 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The stadium was well past its sell by date. If there was any serious trouble structural failures could easily resulted in a loss of life. Did it have an active safety certification? Double decker and other stands clearly a fire risk. Similar to the Heysel disaster. Steel girders were s rusty the roof panel looked time expired and there were many pinch points and places where crushing was a risk.

The roof was paid for by the Supporters Club, and the floodlights were first used in a friendly against Hibernian 10th October 1960. [Post edited 13 Oct 2021 15:34]

The double decker was dsimantled in the 80s under DOug Sharpes stewardship....I think we all know the old lady was past her best and the move to a new stadium was needed..... dont try and credit HJ with this one though....

The club negotiated the move to the liberty late the Swansea.com stadium. This required a good "networking" skills to deal with the developers and council. The former chairman was most responsible of all the owners for the glorious period 2007-2015 of almost continued success and great attractive football. The owners, unable to fund expanding the club, sold to people who brought no debt, were decent business men with experience of stadium development. While not 'sugar daddies' their money has kept Swansea a successful going concern despite relegation partly using home grown player sales from the academy set up by the sellers. . The ex chairman did great things for the club and the city.

I do recall the 2-2 draw there, Twice we got in to the kop and twice as we did we scored and were let’s say made,to feel unwelcome, However, in those days we probably deserved it,

The top of the double decker was removed following the Bradford disaster in 1985. The double decker was totally a wooden structure with the only exits being inside the stand.
