| Back in the day 13:56 - Nov 22 with 1965 views | trampie | Back in the day the local football team represented the area, the fans would often be from similar backgrounds, culture, have similar outlook, way of life, beliefs. Now in this modern multicultural world we have fans of Swansea City that have more in common politically and culturally with opposition fans than they do with the indigenous locals. Obviously I'm thinking of the union jack, red hand flag types that have latched onto Swansea City in recent years, doubt they would be voting Labour like most of the locals still do or even cheering on Welsh national teams in various sports. The World is changing and things move on I suppose. | |

| Back in the day on 17:57 - Nov 22 by JACKMANANDBOY | Dear Catullus, I have English blood in my lineage. There are also people from Poland and Ghana in my extended family and some Jewish people, yet the club continues to sell me season tickets. I'm going to hand myself in tomorrow morning. I suggest you go on the run. [Post edited 22 Nov 2021 18:24]

I'm an honest type so I'll hand myself in with you. I'll bring my son too as he is also part English. My wife's lineage goes back to Normandy and Flanders and she's from Cardiff, I'll bring her too. My dog is 100% Welsh so he can have my season ticket. Oh hang on, Labrador, maybe not.

| Back in the day on 17:45 - Nov 22 by Catullus | Here we go, we're below the Landsker line so we're not proper Welsh either is it? That must mean that even Swansea people can't support Swansea then, or maybe Swansea itself isn't Welsh so we need to move it to the other side of the dyke or the bridge. I would love to get a DNA test done on you and see just how Welsh you actually are. My paternal great grandparents were English, that makes me part English. How do you feel about that? |
Considering the population of Wales doubled from 587,000 in 1801 to 1,163,000 in 1851 and had reached 2,421,000 by 1911. Most of the increase came in the coal mining districts especially Glamorganshire, which grew from 71,000 in 1801 to 232,000 in 1851 and 1,122,000 in 1911, and the biggest impact was an influx of the dreaded sais so I'm betting dear old trampie is as Welsh as the rest of us .

Only if you join the Free Wales Army and have a yes Cymru flag tattooed on you. People like me (British Welsh btw) who helped the abolish campaign have to relinquish our ST's as we're not Welsh Swansea enough. Free Wales Army. Like Dad's Army only they gives you a box of Swan Vesta rather than a uniform and a .303

It goes back a lot further than that, even in those mythical days of Welsh rebellions, we weren't 100% Welsh. The Vikings and Romans brought a lot of foreign blood to these parts. It's pure nonsense. I have a mate from Lincoln who married a local girl, they live here and go (or used to) to watch both teams. He's at the Swansea.com with his Imps hat on and he shouts us on as loud as anybody. The only pure thing in this argument is stupidity and ignorance.

Trampies idealist view is no one other than a Welshman should play or support us, well I have news for him .It would appear there's no hiding place . even the JD Cymru leagues have more than a smattering of "foreigners" plying their trade so even the last bastion of Welsh football has been infiltrated .
