I was one of the few championing him as a top talent when people were calling him a donkey. I made a bet with someone that he would get 50 top flight career goals, which I believe he has got already by the age of 24.
I said buying him for 20m was a no brainer and a load of people went mad at me. He is now worth about 50m. |  |

Who'd have thought? A few astute individuals did if memory serves.
Whilst most were dismissing him as "Bambi on Ice", others noticed that the few chances he had were generally tucked away with ease and in a more attacking team he was capable of scoring even more. No surprise to see him do as well as he did at Chelsea, Villa and Roma.
He's a bloody good striker. Not in the top echelon, but more than capable enough for most PL teams. |  |

I likened him to Emmanuel Adebayor. He too was a slow burner and kicked on after his 23th birthday. It is traditional for forum sages to trash young up and coming targets especially big number 9s. Swansea and Wales in particular do not produce this sort of player.
Both Surridge and Goykers were trashed before lighting up other teams. |  |

He was always trying stupid tricks and flicks that were completely unnecessary and had pretty much a 100% fail rate. Think Jose or someone has grabbed hold of him since and just made him do the basics first and he’s a better player for it. | | | |

As per usual, Swans fans cheerfully blame the player rather than consider the reasons why the player might be struggling. It won't have been easy for any attacking player during the Clement/Carvalhal era.
Abraham did what he could with the service he had. For some his ability was obvious. For others it wasn't. Time has told who was in the right. | |

His movement, anticipation and reactions as I said at the time were at a level rarely seen at our club. He is ranked the 16th best striker on the planet right now. Probably sounds about right.

But that was was the team we were, we were on a downward spiral and we created next to nothing. We scored 28 goals that year, lowest in the league. Our strikers were on a hiding to nothing, Jordan Ayew also struggled to score regularly and he is every bit a classy Premier League performer.
