Should the Senedd be Abolished on 08:13 - May 25 by Kilkennyjack
Start with the victims of British rule.
Google is your friend here. But brace yourself.
The Indian famine, the worlds first concentration camps in South Africa, the treatment of the Aboriginal people in Australia, the Mau mau in Kenya and genocide in Ireland closer to home. Yes feared is the right word.
Bear in mind much of the excesses of colonial power were meted out by Welshmen who were serving in the British Army. You cannot live in a country that has such a dark past,or can you.
As regards genocide, well ...France,Germany,Netherlands,Denmark,pain,Portugal ,Belgium ;not good is it but we holiday in those countries.
As for Ireland, too many of our own people slaughtered on the altar of Irish Independence. Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry deserved a future,as did the hundreds killed by IRA cowards and butchers .

Ah, your going historical, I get nervous whenever I'm in Rome or see a pesky Danish flag. The amount of people from all over the world who want to live under the Union flag tends to negate your argument somewhat.

You are bring fed crap, to be honest.
Nobody wants to live under the union flag these days. Most everybody left after the Empire declined.
Australia are now going to ditch the monarchy. Ireland and Scotland have non-unionist majorities. And Wales can pick wales-shire, or an indy Cymru.
You really are deluded if you think people from other nations want to ruled by Westmonster. We have a bunch of corrupt, law breakers in charge.

Keep voting Labour (in Wales) see Cardiff prosper & the rest of Wales turn into Albania.
You reap what you sow.
Deep down the useful idiots know this.
But they are happy to be living in poverty despite the Barnett formula giving Wales proportionately far more than England gets.
Like we say,the useful idiots are happy for their grand children to suffer just so they can say they voted the way their grandparents did 60 years ago, sad individuals.
It’s funny watching them happily live in the shite Labour have served up to them for the last 20 odd years.
They get what they deserve.

Why do so many people risk their lives in flimsy boats to get here then? Why do so many hide in lorries? Why have there been immigrant camps on the French coast full of people desperate to get here?

I’m not overly impressed with Drakers, but I’m even less impressed with Boris and his cabal. It’s a sad state of affairs when the choice comes to that.

Because they all speak English. Its as simple as that for many.
Why learn French when you can already speak English…?
And you thought they were all experts on the UK constitution and they were fleeing here due to that …… 🤣🤣
The numbers are relatively small and would be even less if we stopped bombing them.

No such place as Southern Ireland for about 100 years.
With the establishment of the Irish Free State on 6 December 1922 by the terms of the treaty, Southern Ireland ceased to exist.

Yes they all speak English, all those form Iraq and Afghanistan, all those from Africa, they all speak perfect English. That's why we hear so many different languages on our streets.
And I thought what? At least I thought which is more than you did and what you assumed is, as usual, so wrong as to be a joke. These people come here believing they'll have a better life but sadly, very many of them are disappointed. The numbers are relatively small you say, well in 2020 (covering the 12 months up to march, over 715000 immigrated here, 402000 left leaving 313000 net. That's a place the size of Swansea every year.

Do you actually read what you type, The UK is an extremely desirable and safe place to live, that's why people will risk their lives to get here. There isn't a country in the world that doesn't have a somewhat dodgy past somewhere in their history, including Wales.

The British state saw 1 million Irish people starve to death.
I think that says it all.
Famines happen worldwide. The population of Ireland had expanded beyond what the Ireland could naturally support and the decision to rely on one crop proved disastrous.
No sure what your post on agriculture and famine had to do with the Senedd though.

Kilky doesn't understand Welsh history, not surprising really.

The union jack is feared the world over. This is not a good thing.
This is what Wrexham fans thought of the uk/english national anthem …
Wrexham fans booing the British National anthem, threw numerous smoke bombs onto the pitch and a flare, one just missed hitting me and Mark by I don't know how but was close 🤬 pic.twitter.com/bRnRZxJ12L

Ireland had enough food. In fact Irish food was even exported by the British (under gun point) whilst the Irish people starved.
This was genocide. 1 million Irish people starved to death. Another 1 million fled from Ireland rather than starve to death.
This was the spark for an Irish Republic.
Your ignorance is quite astonishing.

Felix, on this point Kilky is right. While the Irish were starving the English government continued taking food from them, often at gunpoint.
It was a disgrace. The thing is though, it happened, it's history and there is nobody in the UK political structure today who was around then and nobody who was in government then, is still alive.
Ranting on and trying to blame people today for what happened over 100 years ago is just nonsense. I mean, should we be blaming Keir Starmer for the winter of discontent in 1978/79? What good does it do, what does it prove?
Absolutely none and nothing is the answer.

It's almost like the Irish had a cause what with Cromwell, the famine, independence struggles, being treated as second class in the North etc etc.......hmm
