Netherlands v Wales tonight 19:08 - Jun 14 with 1745 viewsKeithHaynes

Wales team news
Wales: Hennessey; Mepham, Rodon, B Davies (C); Thomas, Ampadu, Smith, Burns; Wilson; Johnson, James.

Netherlands team news
Netherlands: Cillessen; Teze, De Ligt (C), Martins Indi; Hateboer, Koopmeiners, F de Jong, Malacia; Janssen, Gakpo, Lang.

Gareth Bale also spoke to the media this morning prior to their final training session before heading to Rotterdam to take on the Netherlands.
"It's been a long camp, especially for the boys who were in Portugal as well," said Bale. "The games are coming thick and fast so it's difficult to get your head around. The main aim was to qualify for the World Cup. It's been a difficult camp on the end of a long season, but we have to do it, and when we put on a Wales shirt we always give 100%.

"Ideally I would have played more games coming into camp, but I feel ok even though I haven't had a lot of preparation coming into it. We have a lot of good young players coming through, even when there's one or two injuries we have players to come in and do a job.

"I'm happy with what I've done in my career, if you had offered me 10% of it at the start I would have taken it. I was just a kid from Whitchurch so I feel I've over-achieved. My focus has just been on qualifying for the World Cup and now I'm trying to get ready for that. My next move will be massively important as I want to go into the World Cup ideally having played games."

The Cymru captain also followed manager Rob Page in paying tribute to the late Phil Bennett. "I know he's a massive Welsh icon," said Bale. "He played a bit before my time but I've seen videos of him scoring some amazing tries growing up. Our hearts go out to his family. He's a legend and the things he's done in rugby are incredible. He will be truly missed."

Absolutely Keith given our promotion to the ‘next level’ (sound familiar Huw 🤔😩) in the Nations League last season I feel we have performed very well with a group of predominantly youngsters against some of the more recognised and formidable nations in UEFA/world football.

Let’s hope this mix of proven talent plus the addition of youthful energy and enthusiasm will see us produce performances to be proud of in Qatar.

I’m so looking forward to making the trip myself with my two sons, the ‘plan’ had been to go to USA 2026 but who knows given this Welsh teams’ history and I didn’t want to miss out after watching that toothless sweaty Jock cheat us out of qualification back in 1977 at Anfield as an 11 year old …..not that I’m bitter or anything like that of course 🤔😉🤣

We have strength in depth, and have gone head on to some big nations due to the national league draw. Without bragging and without building up the team in the media.

Can’t wait for November.

Slowly working as a team, getting the results or learning from mistakes.
That’s a national side ready for the World Cup.

However, defensively that was pathetic 😂

The Dutch have had the rub of the green for two of their goals.

Take Bale and Gunter behind the woodshed. We looked so much better before they came on.

Mepham had a decent game but he has to make contact with his man on every challenge even if the ball has long gone. So many pointless shoves. Silly habit. Sorba grew into it, looked lost first half. Ampadu class.

We had a similar issue here in Spain tonight, only been back from our European tour for five hours and football has already done my head in 😂

Bale can be a liability sometimes and that is down to his lack of gsmetime.

He really needs to sort a club out pronto.

We can hold our head up , Wales of a few years ago would have gone on to lose 4 or 5 nil.
Better to get these mistakes out of the way now . Commentary on s4c said that we could face Holland in last 16 in Qatar, we are in group B , they are in group A.

We'll get the buggers then. Tair gwaith I Gymro !

Valiant effort again tonight.

All of the squad and staff should be proud of their efforts this window.

Regroup and we probably stay up if we can beat Poland home in September (which we can). Staying up in tier 1 would be a tremendous achievement.

Still all to play for.

I think we will get the win over Poland at home, and hope the Belgians beat Poland.
I can't see England surviving their group though.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.
