Ask Germany and France, different situations need different solutions to get the best outcomes.

By-elections Thursday on 17:55 - Jun 24 by Kilkennyjack | Its also clear that tactical voting can kick any Tory MP out of office. Thats the story here. So will the Tory MPs get rid of him, or let the people get rid of him. Johnson is nailed on to lose his own seat. Partying whilst people mourned will not be forgiven. Johnson is toast. And the shitehouse ran away to hide in Rwanda. |
If the goal is to just get rid of the tories then why have different parties? Why don’t labour/lib dems/plaid/greens etc just merge?

The underlying provokes were essentially the same from what I remember. Wales took a harder stance than wales as Johnson always had one eye on the ERG who did not want any restrictions. Plus Johnson refused to have meetings with the devolved areas

Fair point, but I felt the devolved governments were just playing party politics and taking no notice of the science.

Agreed, the voters in the 2 constituencies have used their vote to send a message to Boris and the Conservative Party. If I were a Labour and a Liberal tactician, I’d focus on the criminality, sleaze and hypocrisy in Government and the cost of living issues. After the confidence vote, a lot of MP’s came out and openly supported Boris and I bet quite a few of them will now be twitching after these results. If I was Kier Starmer (assuming he’s still there) I’d try to take the same approach they threatened to take when the Patterson business was kicking off - naming and shaming MPs and directly associating them to an alleged cover up’s etc, but this time I’d make Boris’s actions the focus.

What kills the Totres is that there are unable or unwilling to jettison Johnson,a walking disaster for them. Hi arrogance is such we "ordinary" people cannot grasp. No decency,no class,no style,no humility ,no responsibility. As for Keir/Kier, he was lumbered at birth with a name like that

Boris has created this image of cheeky chap, politically incorrect, bit of a maverick etc and it resonates with a lot of people, especially those who see politicians as stuck up, aloof, pompous etc and there’s no doubt he was a vote winner. Underneath the PR image, there appears to be an all together different kind of person, rules/laws have been broken, there seems to be no appetite to comply with many protocols and if some of the stories are correct some serious straying from what would be considered appropriate. Some will still see him as a vote winner regardless of what he’s done, but it seems more and more people are seeing him as a liability. The Conservatives now appear to be between a rock and a hard place. If Labour had a really charismatic leader, I suspect the Conservatives would be trailing in the poles by a lot more than they are.

Johnson is now a vote loser. That much is quite clear.

He could have been called Richard and gone by the common nickname for Richard which is Dick.
