Para athletes at the Commonwalth games 22:11 - Aug 2 with 587 viewsbritferry

Tanni G-T just said that the wheel chairs they race in, can cost between 10K and 40K USD. That and the cost of the prosthetic limbs, then its hardly a level playing field if you're not from a UK nation, Oz, NZ, Canada or S.A.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying seeing everybody competing together under their respective flags but the poorer nations ain't got a hope when it comes to the medals table.

With expert coaches, training, facilities, rehab, sadly it’s the same in every sport, but even more so in parasports.

Didn’t realise till a few years ago that Paralympic’s actually means ‘parallel to the Olympics’ as opposed to anything to do with disability.

I saw a few days at London 2012, wheelchair rugby or murderball had an epic fight between and Aussie and a kiwi lad. Nz took the Aussie out of his chair and they had a cracking dust up on the floor. Both were first to embrace after.

Great stuff

Good to see virtually all commonwealth countries embrace the games by entering the games. The commonwealth being the largest group of countries voluntary coming together to share common ideas.

It’s been a great meeting for sure.
Wales successes being completely ignored in the main.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Loving it Elish McColgan was brilliant last night. Jerusalem as the English anthem is so much better than GSTQ too
