I think the truth and the best thing is somewhere in between them. If one of them does all they want it won't help much. Truss goes too far, Sunak not far enough.

A lot more of the UK will suffer but Sunak is still saying he won't reduce taxes yet. It's not income tax or NI that's the problem, it's the green levies and VAT.

And then a video emerges that doesn't paint Sunak in a great light, actually it makes him look completely cynical to me, he took moeny from the poor to give to a better off area....aTory area?

The green levee now works out at approximately 8% of electricity bills and not the 25% which has been bandied about in some quarters. I think a reasonable green levee is a sensible approach, some of the money is used to improve energy efficiency in peoples homes, generally it’s things like insulation and energy efficient boilers in homes occupied by the less well off, pensioners, Dooley on benefits etc. Some money is used towards large scale renewable energy projects and feed in tariffs, but given the way the Russians are using gas to apply pressure or “blackmail” Europe I think it’s really important that we ramp up our energy production capability rapid style. The government could remove the subsidy and find the money from elsewhere, but so far they’ve not got a great deal on interest.

Thanks for your past funding of the labour party then , seeing as you have been a virtual representation for Tory central office on here for years maybe you should join , they should give you free membership for your service 😊

I was thinking more of the levies on fuel. They make up almost half of the rpice of fuel and it's driving inflation up. Haulage firms have had their fuel costs doubled so charge more which the shops all pass onto us.

I am spending around 100 quid per month more on fuel than before this Russian invasion, lowering the levy and VAT would help all of us.

In my case, obviously there's the 100 quid but then food and clothes would be cheaper too. it may save me 200 quid per month which goes a long way towards the increase in utility bills and even leaves some extra for now!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
