Sprinkler full go this morning, passed it at 10.30 and again on the way back at 11.45. Pitch looks lovely and green but so does Royal Ashleigh golf course just over the road. Heatwave will be over by Monday, so its hardly needed and why during the day, its the worst time to do it?

There are 3 possibilities for the water:
- recycled from the pool, which I doubt as there are chemicals in it
- stored in a large tank, after getting it off the pool roof, which would be a great solution
- off the water mains, bad show if it is, even though we're not under a hosepipe ban

As you say it will be over on Monday ….. 🤷‍♂️

Wales has lots of rain, it should help secure our future national prosperity.
Mind you we said that about coal.

There is no sewage outfall in the area you suggest. All Sewage outfalls that used to run into Swansea Bay were diverted to the Swanses Bay waste Water treatment works in Port Tennant, (sewage works) . This was a condition when the water companies were privatised in 1989.

Perhaps you mean the storm drains that allow the small streams in singleton Park, Ashliegh Road and Clyne Valley to pass under the Mumbles Road.

Because Welsh Water has not bothered to build sufficient reservoirs in that part of Wales. The cities of Birmingham and Liverpool did of course have the foresight to build reservoirs in the wetter parts of the UK and pay an abstraction fee and licence for the water they use.

We don’t need to drown any communities and build anymore reservoirs, this is the first time a part of Wales has had a hosepipe ban in 33 years. It’s not as though we’ve got stand pipes at the bottom of the streets and tankers delivering supplies.

You should be much more concerned about the water supply in the South East, plenty of communities in that area have lost their supply and the Thames Water desalination plant isn’t working desperately te previous assurances it could be operational. Communities suffering whilst the Chief Exec picks up a nice fat bonus.

With Climate change all areas of the UK need to think about storing more rainwater and the cheapest way to do this is to build more reservoirs rather than letting it run into the sea.

The UK has 47 major reservoirs listed the largest three being Kielder, Rutland and Haweswater.

Aka - They are still stealing our water.

They should pay the fair market rate.

Water in Wales should be cheaper than In England.
That would attract water intensive industries into Wales (like Brewing see).

Nobody is stealing anyone's water. The Water companies build the reservoirs and infrastructure and still pay a Water abstraction and license fee to Welsh Water.

It did not take you long yo turn a thread on Swansea University playing fields into another racist anti English rant.

Wonder if you think Wales should pay more for food than England as most arable crops are grown in England due to better climate and better farming lands.

I think all assets are UK assets and should be shared across the UK.

Not sure where you got the misapprehension that the South of England suffers from flooding in the Winter or there are no reservoirs.

The areas if the UK that get regular flooding are river Wye in Hereford and Worcester and along the River Severn. Unsurprisingly the areas that get flooding are in the West of of the UK the areas with the highest rainfall. Perhaps better Water capture on those rivers would help prevent flooding and summer water shortages.

It's a simple matter of topography.

In order to create a reservoir you need something to hold the water in. This is why most reservoirs are in mountainous or at least hilly areas. The cost of digging down to create one would be murderously expensive in comparison to simply damming a valley elsewhere and piping it in. Plus gravity is cheaper and far more carbon neutral than pumps.

SE England (or the Midlands) doesn't have an awful lot of hills and valleys but it does have an awful lot of people. Wales, being extensively carved by Glaciers has lots of hills and valleys but not all that many people, making it an ideal place to have lots of reservoirs.

Rainfall goes hand in hand with being hilly/mountainous.

We covered relief rain when I did my GCSE's nearly 30 years ago. You might have been off sick.

The government has significant targets to reduce water usage across the UK over the next 25 years, down from around 142 litres per day to around 110 by 2050. Water meters will be rolled out because people on meters use around 25% less than those without meters (125 v 160).

To make the water supply more sustainable water companies need to be made to decrease the amount lost through leakage, Thames water should be made to get their desalination plant operational and we need to have a serious discussion around immigration which is now at record levels because our infrastructure can’t cope.

Whilst we’re at it, we need the water companies to sort out the dumping of raw sewage into rivers and the sea.

My personal view is that Water companies are critical infrastructure and shouldn’t have been sold off, but what’s happened as happened. They’re not performing very well but managed have paid out nearly £60bn in dividends in 30 years and huge sums in bonuses. The regulator and ultimately the government need to get a grip.

Why dont they build more reservoirsand build them so they are safe to swim in and do other water sports? Charge people small fees to use them and they pay for themselves then the water is available to pump where it's needed.

When we build things in this country we only build for the here and now, we don't often build something and think how it could be used in the years ahead.
It's like the roads, they get planned but by the time they are built the traffic has already increased so much the road is already under pressure.

It doesnt matter which government you talk about, they have all been bloody hopeless at planning ahead. Take HS2 now, we already know they have ripped Wales off with this but by the time it is finished, will it have the capacity needed? Will the tracks hold up in extreme weather?
I have never understood why they are building something that will only take 30-60 minutes off a journey anyway. Why not make the trains better so that people can actually sit down and get decent Wifi on them so people can work effectively while they travel. The journey only needs to be on time, it's the facilites that need upgrading. You can spend hundreds on a train seat but end up standing.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Wales is being subsidised by the UK taxpayers under the Barnett formula it gets far more per person than the UK average that is hardly looting.

As for the coal tips lord Bute created perhaps he should pay to remove them.

Trouble is no one can afford the rail fares as do to restricted practices by the unions and higher wage low efficiency they have too high a cost base. I find the wifi on the Great Western trains works perfectly well though I doubt the WiFi, on the Welsh government owned Tfw, works yet.
