Ah, but did any of those need the money and does Ronaldo need the money? I just looked and apparently CR7 is worth over 500 million dollars, around 405 million pounds. he should just retire now, or he can be a greedy chunt. I reckon I know what he'll do

But what if he loves playing football and he is offered silly money to do it ? Why should he retire ?

Well he is lready worth silly money so why not offer to play for oin money to help out a club that needs a player like him, why not become a player manager for a lower placed club? Why not coach or volunteer or do any number of generous things? Because he's CR7.

Out of honour and respect to those living on 1 dollar a day. It is morally indefensible He doesn’t need it. This is nothing to do width personal right# or freedom but morality. It is utterly disgusting and sickening to the core,or it should be.

At why income do you draw the line ? What yearly wage is ‘morally defensible’ ? What about all the good he does with it ? All the money he gives to charity ? It’s exactly about personal rights and freedom. The man has every right to earn the money he can. Best of luck to him.

What income Let’s put it this way Jon. If you are not reviled by a man earning 173 million pounds for playin* football in desert then I can’t help. He deserves the most disrespect ,the most contempt possible . I stand by every word It must be incongruous to be a socialist an£ yet laud this chap for doing a job so utterly superfluous and irrelevant to life in general . I find your comments utterly bizarre but there again, this site is all about different opinions isn’t. Today ,we saw vaccinations basically seen as unnecessary and irrelevant . My God, look down on us and save us from this .

May I ask again, what level of income is acceptable to you ? ‘Reviled’ is such an extreme word. This man does a lot of good with his money, gives countless millions of pounds away every year to charity, the more money he makes, the more he gives away and the more people he helps. Is that a good thing or not ? What has his playing ‘in the desert’ have to do with anything ? You say ‘He deserves the most disrespect ,the most contempt possible’ for what ? For accepting a deal he has been offered ? He’s not hurt anyone, committed a criminal offence. People may be jealous but he’s entitled to earn money if folk are daft enough to pay it. I’ve never described myself as a socialist, it’s got nothing to do with me what someone else earns. How much should I be ‘allowed ‘ to earn ? All the entertainment industry is superfluous to and irrelevant to life in general but they bring joy to others. What do vaccinations have to do with football or Ronaldo ? ‘My God, look down on us and save us from this .’ Slightly dramatic
Good Sporting Retirements on 16:55 - Dec 9 with 2163 views | Catullus | From my point of view how mcu is acceptable depends on the job being done, no professional sportsperson shoud get more than 25k per week. It's a lot of money and more than a lot of people get in a year. Anybofy who cannot survive and prosper on that is greedy and stupid. The Saudi offer is as bad as the WC in Qatar, they are trying to buy acceptance through sport, taking Ronaldo there is as much about politics as sport.

Good Sporting Retirements on 16:55 - Dec 9 with 2157 views | onehunglow | Add to this list the late much missed Joey Dunlop with 26 TT wins, which although threatened has not been touched and won’t be . A man who personally drove to thecBalkans at the height of the trouble with relief supplies. A man who United the ROI and NI.. 60000 witnessed his funeral.. Totally respected and humble . The contrast between him and Ronaldon is cruel

Don’t disagree but can’t blame anyone for accepting it.

Oh no, me neither. If some idiot offers me silly money to do a job I loved, I'd take it. The caveat being that if I had serious misgivings about who I was working for I might well refuse. I wouldn't survive in Qatar or Saudi because I couldn't keep my mouth shut! There again, if I had enough money that I never had to worry again, I doubt if I would do ANY job, I'd retire and travel as much as I possibly could but Ronald has already travelled the world a few times.

Rossi was a brilliant rider, one of the best ever but I can't agree about the timing of his retirement. He went on a couple of seasons too long & was just tooling around towards the back of the field in his last season.
