| Stephen Fry this morning on 17:21 - Sep 10 by onehunglow | Themselves for anyone not understanding the state we re in. Keith raises a good point. Burglary is amongst the most violent of offences Your home,it’s possessions, your privacy violated and nowadays not even visited by CID And we worry more about the Perps. Why? Anyone… |
It’s only you saying we worry more about the criminals than the victims. Nobody else has remotely implied that. Priorities for me 1. Keeping the general public safe 2. Supporting victims 3. Minimising the number who reoffend Some criminals should be reintegrated back into society. I’d imagine it has a big impact on point 3. Some should be inside until they die.

Ask 100 people if they care more about the victims or perpetrators of crime. Don’t be fooled by salacious headlines. People being afraid of being violated is the exact reason certain criminals should be reintegrated. If they can’t get work, accommodation etc, they are much more likely to reoffend. More victims. Yes, there are some truly dangerous rats. Some should never come out. That’s why I didn’t like Stephen Frys comment. He seemed blase about it. There’s obviously not a single solution for everyone who leaves prison.

Good reply. I don’t entirely agree but you put it well. Great stuff. Let’s just say there are numerous outlets to help criminals, fewer for victims If we don’t prioritise those who are law abiding then we are buggered

I watched a thief walk into Next pick up six £30 essence candles drop two pick up another one and walk out after a discussion with a lady manager. She did not have the wares to stop him as security only works 2-3 days. They cannot pull up people inside the store. It does not matter to them unless the losses are seen on the spreadsheets. Principles of crime prevention do not come into it.

Maybe we should be looking at examples of how other countries do things. However, unless it's the US we are too arrogant to do so https://www.weforum.org/agenda
