| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread 12:29 - Mar 8 with 7411 views | ModeratorC | Two games coming up this week, first at Portsmouth this Tuesday evening (7:45pm) followed by Wrexham away on Friday (8pm) The Swans have sold in the region of 1,400 tickets for the Portsmouth trip and Wrexham is sold out (1,260) Pompey: Always one of the toughest away fixtures for the Swans 8th Mar 2026 15:42The last time Swansea City played Portsmouth at Fratton Park it was a very cold New Years Day in 2025 on the south coast, and the Swans lost 4-0. Totally outclassed in football terms they simply didn’t turn up. Luke Williams was the head coach at that point but this game pretty much signalled the end of his time at Swansea. 0 Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day, Team News & fanzine history 10th Mar 2026 09:07The Swans have a really tough fixture this evening at Fratton Park (7:45pm) There are no immediate concerns injury wise as they look to do something about their poor away form. Head coach Vitor Matos was happy with the way his side played when defeating Stoke City 2-0 on Saturday at the swansea.com - so this match up is eagerly anticipated. 0 Portsmouth 1 Swansea City 2 : Josh Key scores again in tip top display 10th Mar 2026 22:40Swansea City took another step towards addressing their poor away record this season with a win at Fratton Park, Portsmouth this evening. A very commanding first half which saw two Swans goals was followed by a nail biting second period where tactics and belief seemed to drain away. 0 Referee : Gavin Ward Line : Graham Kane and Nigel Lugg Fourth Official : Farai Hallam More to follow.

Norwich fans sang to us why are we still here and we replied why are we still here. Didn't mind Williams was a nice guy and we started the first half of the season ok we only lost games by 1 goal.

| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread on 09:19 - Mar 10 with 3906 views | streetlyjack | Time to put our big boy pants on tonight and scrap for a result. The next big challenge for Matos and the team is to find the right balance in away games if we are to improve as a team. Its a different formula in the championship away from home which usually equals less possession, quick counter attacks and utilising your set plays (seems to work for Milwall, Hull etc). Our home form is magnificent but is being completely eroded by our dismal away form so things have to start to improve here starting hopefully tonight. We have been switching off far too easily in away games to gift teams easy goals so the players focus and concentration has to be spot on toight to give us a platform to build from. Focus, graft, physicality and being more direct will get us a result. Possession without purpose has got us nowhere away from home this season so we really need to mix things up a bit in our remaining games to become less predictable and more threatening. We cannot continue to roll over and have our belly tickled away from home, time to stand up and be counted, the ability is there and hopefully the mentality will start to change too. Hopefully our wingers have been staying behind for extra crossing practice, if we could improve this facet of our game it really would make a big difference. | |

I got a good feeling about tonight. I think we will get the win. Play Key who's confidence will be high, maybe Yalcouye too. I'm going for 2-1 Win. At some point we have to start converting our home form to away.

| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread on 20:35 - Mar 10 with 3047 views | Dr_Winston | Got slightly concerned about 20 minutes in. The pattern of play was beginning to mimic last Saturday where our lack of a forward thinking midfielder allowed the opposition into the game. We've picked up since then though. Moving the ball quicker and some nice interplay back and fore. Key probably the pick of them again so far, with a belting goal to boot. | |

Did you see Galbraith’s ‘celebration’? He went to the supporters behind the goal making a sit down motion. The front row were all in wheelchairs😳. I’m sure he wasn’t saying it to them but…😁

Oh and Vipotnik walking back just as the ball went in for the goal as if nothing had happened🤣

| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread on 20:48 - Mar 10 with 2934 views | Boundy | Well that was rather good, no complaints from me except that about half way through the half it seemed we couldn’t wait to give the ball away but two cracking goals and neither by VIP which is doubly pleasing, can Portsmouth be so poor in the second half we’ll see but that’s not taking anything away from the boys who played some lovely one touch passing football which opened them up at will, watching the highlights of the Wrexham match Hull scored a cracking free kick to make it one nil then missed a penalty and all their commentators could hope for was that the wind will be in their favour in the 2nd half. | |

Most people would have settled for a win, any win, before the kick-off. Let's look forward to Wrexham now.
| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread on 21:41 - Mar 10 with 2715 views | clloy2 | The defense as a unit is non existent. Nowhere near the quality required to compete for play offs. As for Matos team selections, I've no idea what he sees in certain players who start week in week out, but contribute very little. That 2nd half was a tough watch, pompey were so poor for 55 mins they should have been 4 down. | | | |

Terrible game management in the second half, determined to give Portsmouth as much hope as possible. But we got through it. It’s never easy, is it?

| Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match day thread on 21:43 - Mar 10 with 2672 views | Dr_Winston | Flow of the game turned on the first set of subs. We're screwed if Vipi gets injured for any length of time before Idah comes back because we probably could have played some sort of Terrier type dog up front and it'd have contributed about as much as Cullen did. Take the win. Move on. Hope Matos learns, but there are some worrying blind spots beginning to form. [Post edited 10 Mar 21:44]

There we go steadily climbing the table, currently 9th. Mstos deserves the credit for taking us from where we were to where we are. Possibly his team selection is more often right than not, even if some can't see it.
