| Voting cards 17:32 - May 4 with 1307 views | AguycalledJack | Speaking to my parents over the weekend they indicated that they had not received voting cards. Do they need a voting card or can they turn up to vote with id and get a voting card at the polling station. I then spoke to somebody else in the gorseinon area who said they had received voting cards. When i googled it i read it as being able to just turn up with id. But now not so sure? | | | | |
| Voting cards on 17:49 - May 4 with 1048 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Will Hayward posted this last week: "Welsh Conservative candidate Natasha Asghar has been sending out leaflets telling Welsh voters they will need ID to vote. To be clear, this is not true. YOU DO NOT NEED ID TO VOTE IN THE SENEDD ELECTION. You also don't need to bring your polling card. Voter ID disproportionally prevents poorer people from voting." I m taking my driving licence anyway. | |

Are they registered to vote? If so they can turn up, no ID needed. It may be worth them calling election services in guildhall to check

They should be registered then unless something has changed like their address. If they go to the correct polling station they'll be fine. Check here:- https://swansea.gov.uk/article

Its not just the Gorseinion area , with reports of postal voting cards not being received in the Cardiff/Barry areas, also I read that as the votes will not be counted on the night but held overnight to be counted on the Friday , so remember when voting use a pen not the pencil as imo with Drakefords and other lefty politicians comments I belive this will be the most bent election ever.

I was shocked to read about the posting voting failure and votes not being counted on the night. Something is not right, especially when you consider that they have had years to prepare for this, its not as if its an unexpected event. It absolutely stinks. I would not be surprised if the next Westminster election ends up with similar issues. I wonder if Labour would introduce a PR voting/election system to prevent a Reform U.K government in Westminster. Drakeford and his electoral system shenanigans in Wales hey! And the attempt to cancel council elections also. And giving votes to 16 yr old's had absolutely nothing to do about giving a vote and voice to a younger generation. It was all about gaining electoral advantage.

| Voting cards on 08:58 - May 6 with 583 views | Scotia | Just to add. The only usual reason anyone may not be able to vote is if they haven't registered. If you haven't received a postal vote you may be able to get one from the local authority or vote at a polling station (this is a last resort) using a tendered ballot. If you can't get to a polling station you may be able to get an emergency proxy vote if you haven't already requested a proxy vote. Up to 5pm on election day. If you missed the deadline to return a postal vote it can be taken to any polling station in the same constituency. If you don't have a polling card you can vote but it'll take a few more seconds to find your details on the register. The only reason not to vote is laziness. No demographic priorities or tampering with ballots is possible. This is just scaremongering and misinformation from people who are looking for an excuse for a result they don't like. | | | |

"The only reason not to vote is laziness" I don't agree with that statement. I will be voting tomorrow but can fully understand if anyone decides not to vote, because I can see an argument against voting for every party.

| Voting cards on 18:17 - May 4 by ReslovenSwan1 | I had 6 points on it 20 years ago but all clear now. I was putting in a lot of miles until retirement. I did not worry about the 20 mph. I just went a bit slower and watched out for cameras. The speed limits was 25 mph in areas of USA i saw last year. Lee Walters should have tested it and taken example from other places in the world for guidance. 25 mph would not have upset so many voters. |

You could spoil a ballot paper or make a nil return. The choice at this election is very poor. But whoever wins the impact will reach everyone.

What benifit is there going to the polling station and deliberately spoiling your paper as opposed to not voting. If we had a none of the above choice that would be different.

I'd say it demonstrates thay you're prepared to vote but nobody deserves your vote. I'd agree that "none of the above" would be better, but just not turning up means the parties only have to appeal to the 50% of those that do vote many of whom are long standing supporters of a party anyway. Make them work for your vote.

Your 50% still stands if I were to spoil my paper. It just goes into the spoilt box with those spoilt in error. There is no differential between deliberately spoilt and accidentally spoilt papers. Incidentally I have nobody knock my door yet so are they actually working hard.

No it's counted as spoilt. Unless you accidentally spoil it and you get one reissued. If 20% are counted as spoilt then it's 20% if people who wanted to vote but no parties were suitable. I think voting for someone is best, which is what I'm doing. But spoiling is better than not bothering at all

So if you accidentally tick more boxes than you should and don't realise, isn't it accidentally spoilt and not reissued.
