After the shambles we became on and off the pitch during the late Flynn era it was nice to be a professionally coached club again when he took over. Came within a penalty shootout of delivering back to back promotions and won our first bit of silverware in over a decade.

100% agree. If it wasn’t for Kenny there wouldnt have been the talent for Martinez to fine tune. A terrible loss and he deserved much more respect from Jenkins and co with regards his omission. A manager whose football could be up there with the most entertaining a team can be. RIP | | | |

He brought in key players like Monk in particular and Fallon, Gueret and Rickets.
My most memorable evening was the Leon Knight double away at Brentford.
I do not see any reason to compare with Martinez. There was a philosophical difference and both styles of play are valid. He reminds me of Phil Parkinson. Notionally not successful at Championship level. He is though when given some money to spend.
I always remember as clip if him smiling as w he walked to the dug out at Brentford with two 16 year old shouting filthy abuse at him. He seemed like a true gentleman.

A true gentleman and 100% committed to our club.
Was privileged to know him and his family personally whilst at Swansea.
In post season Ken once traveled down to Gower from St Albans , Hertfordshire just to do a football presentation in South Gower FC. (leaving his family back in St Albans in a family reunion).
He drove back to St Albans immediately after the presentation.
That's a 8 hour round trip just to do a junior football presentation!
That's the mark of Kenny as a man.

Shocked to hear this sad news. I'll admit I wasn't the greatest fan of the style of football played under him but it was certainly effective. And, as others have already commented, he was a true professional, a gentleman and came across as quite a humble, nice guy.

A very good manager for Swans, put a lot of the foundations in place which others benefitted from. It was the same at some of his other clubs too. In my opinion a very underrated manager. RIP. | | | |

KJ had a good base too. Britton, Tate, Trundle, Robinson. All ridiculously good players for that level. His downfall was when he started to favour height and size over footballing ability and the likes of Trundle were dropped for Fallon, Martinez dropped and Leon shunted out wide so OTJ and O Leary could play in the middle.
The Barnsley game remains the biggest missed opportunity I’ve seen in my 30 odd years watching the club, possibly only rivalled by the games against Napoli where we were on top for a massive chunk.

I look back at that time with great happiness. Playing some decent effective football with a fair bit of flair. My 2 sons were just old enough to start travelling to away games and we spent many hours on the motorway back then
He seemed a decent thoughtful guy. Played a big part in making us what we are today.

I don't wish to speak ill of the dead but KJ's refusal to play Martinez used to really grate and I believe the former saw the latter as a threat to his authority. But I'm not getting into an argument over it. It's history now and Kenny deserves all the credit and positive comments he's getting  | |
