The small boats are a problem and need to be stopped, but this is and always has been the bigger issue.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Totally different. People coming here legally are not entitled to any benefits for 3 years and only then if they have paid enough NI contributions. The (bogus) asylum seekers on the boats, and most still come in the back of lorries, are not allowed to work for 6 months and live on benefits from day 1.

Yet they can still access social housing, NHS, schooling etc if they've come to join someone with legal status. If a family with children needs housing they shoot right up the ladder.

It's not just about claiming direct benefits, it's about the effect of adding 10-15m (conservatively) to the population without an equivalent increase in income to meet the demands of them and the long term cost of doing so.

That's ignoring the insanity of one worker being allowed to bring in 15 dependents. Who are they? Mum? Dad? Uncle Samuel?

And yet we have (this) final year paramedics , nurses and midwife’s being told there’s no job s for them and yet when it comes to Nigerian or Indian staff there’s work for them so you’re analogy doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

Because the skilled foreign staff plugged a gap we needed at the time, they have employment rights we all benefit from. Do you seriously think we could wait for British people to qualify and become competent?

And they aren't going to go home unlike past EU migrants. Eventually they'll get ILR and get universal credit too.

The number one way to reduce immigration is reduce the need.

Well there's half a dozen welsh british care staff who call here to do exactly that for my youngest, in fact there's two here right now, so that's a load of bollox.

Over 40% of immigrants are on studying visas or are members of their family.

That’s a bit disrespectful tbh. There’s a lot more to that job than just “wiping arses”. When my gran had to go into a home with dementia there was a lovely carer called Gary I think his name was used to sit with her for a chat and a cup of tea. Was absolutely lovely with her. That was more valuable than anything. He got moved to a decent section and we were gutted. My gran would always ask where the “nice man” was.

Yes they should be paid more but when there’s a ready supply of people willing to work for the lowest possible wage then wages will inevitably always stay as low as possible. If jobs were better paid then there’d be loads of people wanting to do it.

There's those who know and understand, then there are others who are just clueless attention seekers.

Well this clueless attention seeker has been a respite carer for many years, and until recently my wife worked closely with Swansea RST team. Majorly staffed by immigrants, often Nigerian.

She'd be very stressed this time of the year because their student Visas would expire they'd go home and there wouldn't be enough staff to cover the basic rota let alone emergency extra work she was involved with.

There's a lot more to it than wiping arses, it's hard work. Probably the most undervalued job in the UK. It deserves to be paid more but who's going to foot the bill?

I replied about care staff that call here to care for my youngest, it didn't fit his narrative though, so my post has been ignored.
They call twice a week Tuesday and Thursdays they're for 6hrs and once a fortnight on a Saturday for 8hrs

My lad is on so many meds and is peg fed his poo is like water 99% of the time, I've obviously dealt with those situations millions of times in his 29yrs, I'll spare you the details.

In a scenario where 10 plus dependents accompany the care worker the real cost to the economy hugely exceeds £12.71 an hour. Ten is exceptional of course, but the average number of accompanying dependents for some nationalities is close to that. This kind of imbalance and the impact on the welfare budget simply isn't sustainable.

And precisely why immigration needs to be controlled. The first way to control immigration is reduce the need, across all sectors, at the moment we're exacerbating it.

Spot on, a friend has a mother with heart failure. She can take care of herself and is fine cognitively. She does need help with physical tasks, even standing up to make a meal is difficult. She has a carer who does all the physical activity for her, is a good companion and friend.
