Went there today with the dogs for a swim at high tide at about 6:00 pm. The water was a kind of oxtail soup brown with a bubbly scum on the surface and there was no way we were setting foot into that. I don’t know what is responsible but if I was a gambling man, my money is on Welsh Water.

Oxwich doesn’t have a Blue flag this year nor does Tenby North Beach.
The state of our beaches is scandalous, I know they make excuses for poor water quality after storms and rain, but we’ve not had any of that for ages. Apparently the main beaches are tested 8 times, between May and September. | | | |

Rhossili was outstanding Saturday, water was crystal clear it did get a tad colder the further out you swarm as expected was nice to feel a little colder though  .
Called at Oxwich a fortnight ago after we'd been to Rhossili, plenty in the water though, never ventured down to beach though just for a look and a drink, before heading home. |  | | |

I form my opinion from travelling and viewing with my eyes. The sea around most of the UK including the likes of Cardigan Bay is a blue/turquoise colour, around Swansea and the Gower it often looks grey/brown in colour, there is definitely something not right. | | | |

Yes, specifically nitrates and phosphorus, but it's algae that develops from that.
It's also the lack of rivers, rain and sediment.
