Bought with the expectation that Vipi would move on and he'd be higher up the pecking order perhaps.
Make or break year for him either way. Needs a Lissah level impact to demonstrate that he's got what it takes to be a Championship level forward. |  |

Think they're both fairly low down in it now. Woodward needs to get himself out on loan too. Season deal with a recall at Christmas time if he impresses. | |

So why has Wales not kicked on. Is he unhappy and this being the cause .
Potential reasons
a) Homesick/ girlfriend issues. ?
b) Party animal and lost if focus and Professionalism?
The way I see it going back to Scotland is not the answer..
Having said that it could be that Swansea have strong contacts with Dundee after the successes of Congreve and Cotterill. A few honest phone calls would rapidly identify why this player is not performing.

91% of Academy players will never play a professional game. Something like 0.012% of them will play in the Premier League. 97% are released before turning 18.
We can chuck ten times as much money into our youth system and those figures won't change much. What hopefully will change is that the quality, and therefore transfer value of those who do break through is higher.
Before we got to the Premier League we were lucky if any of our youth players ever got higher than Welsh League after being released. Now we've got quite a few of them peppered throughout the league system both in the UK and abroad. That's a good sign.
What we desperately need to do now is improve the quality of the matches they're involved in from the ages of 17-19 to force the learning process. Cat One status will help there, getting them out of pointless youth games and playing actual competitive matches will help more. | |

Cat1 will also improve the quality of the players we can attract because at the age of 14 our travel distance would be unlimited, whilst in Cat2/3 it is 90 minutes. This is without the attractions and benifits for older academy players. | | | |

I respect the effort you put into the post but Wales has senior experience.
As pointed out the statistics are just typical of mist academies.
Swansea had two good waves.
2017 Dan James McBurney Rodon Byers Roberts
2023. Cotterill Congreve Wilson Abdullai Lloyd Lissah.
The club has learned that
Category 1 gave PL performers ( £50m)
Category 2 gave League 1 Belgium SPL performers. ( £5m)

I can only go by the interview I saw if him when he was packing up in Scotland and heading down and he seemed like a real genuine down to earth kid, soni can't see it being (B).
He hasn't had a look in since Matos arrival so he clearly doesn't fancy him or think he's ready. No point him sat on the bench or playing for the U23's. Get him out on loan to play competitive and assess the situation again in January/June to see if he's developed. | | | |

He was out on loan at Huddersfield last season and he couldn't get a game they didn't rate him at all | |

We all hope every one of our players does well but the signs are not good. He has done little here nor at Huddersfield on loan. On loan with Alloa he was decent scoring 12 in 27 but that was Scottish League One. With Kilmarnock it was 3 in 38 so he hasn't performed in a decent league. As I say we all want him to do well but it looks like his last chance, at 21 he needs to be delivering. | | | |

Bobby Wales covered energetically when United pressed towards the end as Dundee sat back, but it was hard to read much into his short appearance. As Dundee's star striker, Simon Murray, is out with a serious ACL injury, it surprised me that Wales did not get more game time. Stephen Pressley may be wanting to bed him in gradually, but may think his existing strike force deserves a go. | | | |
