Monk played a short term game and utterly appalling football which in the short term worked, but like every other team playing that kind of football ultimately got found out. We'll never know whether sacking Laudrup was the correct decision, but the decision to replace him with Monk was a shit one.

I think it was against Sunderland home about five years ago where Vorm had more completed passes during the game than the whole of the Sunderland team put together.

Possession is like this if you have the ball more than the opposition you make them work harder tire them out. Yes you need to do something whilst in possession, but there's the thing the more we have it the better we become, whilst we have the ball.
Perhaps you are suggesting we give the ball to the opponent's, and see what happens.

There is more than one way to play possession football. We were a vastly different team under Sousa to under Rodgers to under Laudrup. Ostensibly we played "passing" football, but the style was very different.
For me there's a little too much of the "keeper to defender" stuff that Darran singled out. We're a too slow moving the ball at times. Players look a bit flat footed and too many passes go behind the man. More Clement than Martinez.
But we are a work in progress after many changes in personnel. |  |

Darran is correct.. we're nowhere near Martinez, Sousa and Rodgers Championship teams.. miles off.. passing between the two centre Half's and fullbacks plus Grimes obviously skewers the stats to make us look good.
