The biggest load of self indulgent crap ever produced, Pope, Dineen and whoever else was involved in the production of this should be ashamed of themselves.
A real missed opportunity to make a classic along the lines of the New York Cosmos film.
Jack to a king is of mild interest to Swans fans who will enjoy a few nostalgic clips but I'm sure that anyone who is not a Swans supporter would be baffled by the disjointed incomplete non time lined jumble of a film which didn't even include mention of half the managers or promotions etc.
If ever a film needed a narrator and a clear timeline and explanation of the actual story of the rise of the Swans through the leagues this was it.

Things like this are great at the time BUT they date very quickly. Football is a week by week thing and we have had so much more ups and downs since this film.

Aside from the PR spin much of this clearly is, for the filmmakers a 10 year story is quite a challenge. There's always going to be stories not told.
On a editorial level, the biggest mistake they made, though, was not anchoring it in one particular moment. Take the Class of 92 film as an example and you see the success they achieved was by using that one 99 treble season as the hook. Jack To A King meanders around and has too many voices telling us the same info. You can imagine the meeting that took place, all the directors would have wanted screentime, when they could have done with 1 or 2. Having to accommodate them probably meant many others got overlooked. |  | | |
