From my hometown and residence for 18 years, San Antonio, I'm truly embarrassed to admit.
Miracle Mattress didn't open their doors Thursday. Reportedly due to death threats, but likely more due to embarrassment, unless I'm giving them too much credit.
Worst TV commercial...no, make that worst idea, of all time. on 07:55 - Sep 9 by BigPhilG
How on earth did it get on TV in the first place ?
Because corporate America has no imagination and only looks at the $ coming in ! Once they saw the faux outrage and utter tasteless content then they pulled the advert.

This didn't come from a corporation. That was the owner in the commercial, which apparently only "aired" on their Facebook page. I doubt any local TV stations would have aired it.

How come they've had to close down then?
As you say, they thought that through perfectly.
They've closed "indefinitely" now.
This case doesn't really follow the PT Barnum rule about publicity. San Antonio is a deeply patriotic city with multiple air force bases and a huge army post. Safe to say this was sincere stupidity, not some brilliant attempt at notoriety.
I was talking to a friend in NY about this commercial yesterday and she said about another one where someone at a Walmart in Florida did a twin tower display with Coke Zero(ground zero).
F*cking idiots.

I'm more shocked there is somebody called Randy Beamer!
RB has been on San Antonio TV for at least 25 years. Usually sporting a solid pornstache. But any coincidence and/or hilarity about his name is completely over the locals' heads.
