Not sure if there's anything to it.

Bergkamp was De Boer's assistant at Ajax, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility I suppose.

Worrying......

Harsh words said by Dennis Bergkamp at Frank de Boer. Former assistant manager at Ajax, informed the press, talking to the microphones of Santos Magazine:

“Ajax and the Dutch football are original. Originality is associated to our people over the centuries, since the Middle ages. Our master painters were original, never copied.”, said Bergkamp. “His looked like a game for the sake of position, as if the aim was to reach a holding of the ball as high as possible. It is football without purpose. You have to try the adventure, have the courage to play football, the courage to take risks and not to take refuge in a wait-football.”

That’s not a dream team IMO, more nightmare.

Dream team on the pitch in the 90’s doesn’t necessarily transpose to dream team off it years later.

I tell you what, from what he has said there, Bergkamp on his own would do me.

The football he ascribes to de Boer is exactly what I have been saying about Prem football in England. Fecking paint by numbers.

As soon as they run into proper football teams (the Spanish clubs and Bayern for example) they are cut to ribbons.
Football is mainly about creativity and skill, speed of thought and deed.
It's not fecking chess.

Apparently very good with training players and working with youth players. Likes to play free flowing attacking football which is also good.

brought up on a 3-4-3 formation though.. not sure if that would work in the championship (i miss the times of having both full backs and wingers)

Kind of like our old style appointments (inexperienced at manager level but brought up in big clubs) it is risky.. but could be going back to our old style of selecting managers. And who knows.. could use his arsenal/ajax connections to bring in some decent youngsters and loans in... I am sure there are young Dutch players who would love to play for him (same with younger arsenal players)

Unless he's changed his mind since last year he seems more of a 9-5 man.

Since then he has left the club ( i think anyway) so unemployment could change his mind.

Bring in a Director of Football to leave Bergkamp to the coaching, preparation and selecting of teams and we'd be on to a winner I reckon.

He wouldn't have to worry about getting on a plane to Europe any time soon.
