Serious crash between Bridgend and Margam.

One vehicle involved

South Wales Police said the crash involved one vehicle.

A spokesman said there is “significant” queueing traffic on the westbound carriageway and that all alternative routes are also extremely busy.

Yeah I read that but the road was closed for 6 hours it must have been something awful for that to happen.

That’s awful but it’s still strange the motorway was closed for so long.

I was in a accident on M4 last year, took them 45mins to free me from the car, they closed M4 for 5 hours with no other car involved, i think its so they get every single bit of evidence.

Rip to the lady though! Such sad news

It’s fairly standard as they will treat it like a “crime scene” and get specialist officers in to survey the cash site, gather evidence, give it a clean etc before they open the road back up.

Correct.

The tragedy needs attention more than the need for the traffic to flow.

In the event of a fatal crash its a minimum 6 hours before they can reopen that streach of motorway/road

I left Newport at about the same time and got back at 6 as I came back over hirwaun but I had seen the emergency services around the accident on my way up to do the job and it looked extremely serious.
So very sad and a reminder to how dangerous motorways can be and how quickly lives change.

Without speculating as to the cause, the amount of motorists who speed and can't stop in time is horrible on that stretch, plus those that don't anticipate heavy traffic conditions.
Only last week that pregnant mothers death was in court due to a driver not concentrating on conditions ahead.

Was heading up to Bridgend while the road (west bound) was closed, traffic was at a stand still for miles. On the way home, went through Sarn, Margam, Neath and on to the M4 there with no problem. Could tell it was a bad one as the area was fenced off, very sad and thoughts are with the friends and families of the people involved.

There was a fantastic series on BBC1 a couple of weeks ago, they were with the crash investigators from Gwent Police.

the children are in school with mine, 4 of them. There's nothing on the news to say they were involved luckily.

People drive far too quickly on that stretch, one slip and you're a gonna.

The children and mother weren't involved, thankfully.

Must be horrific for them.
