My take is he wants out and the club would like to see him go. He is probably looking at a wage cut high he won’t want and having seen Argentina perform at the WC probably fancy’s a crack at getting back in the squad. The club on the other hand pick up a transfer fee and also save on his wages.
The concern for me is that he holds on and we end up in a situation similar to the Gylfi Sigudsson saga where there isn’t time to recruit a replacement, unless of course they decide to stick with VDH, Mawson, Amat, Bartley and 1 from the academy. If I was Krasnodar I wouldn’t be happy with a player who wasn’t committing and would look elsewhere. Fede wanted to leave last summer to try to get into the Argentina World Cup squad.
Even playing for us he'd have been a big improvement on their CBs.
I had hoped he stay and become a bit of a legend.

As i've pointed out before if Fernandez leaves who on earth have we got left in the squad to give away pointless, crude easily spotted ludicrous free kicks on the edge of our penalty box every single week.
This chap had dedicated his time with us to giving opportunity after opportunity to opposition free kick specialists to hone their skills.
This will be a devastating blow to many championship free kick takers who were depending on his reliability this season.
One can only hope that Jenkins has already lined up a none too bright extremely average defender with a tendancy to manhandle or otherwise clearly foul opposition strikers around about 18 to 25 yards from goal range in our half each game. [Post edited 11 Jul 2018 17:06]

The seemingly reliable journo Alan Nixon had it pointed it to him by fans about that video of Fernandez talking about the pre season tour and yet Nixon made it very clear Fede was in a rush to leave before and after that interview was posted.
He said quite a few days ago regarding the Krasnodar interest and that Fede didn’t want to go there and only now it’s being covered by the likes of bbc also. Obviously got sources within. [Post edited 11 Jul 2018 17:07]

Best years behind him and although our most experienced CB also, in my opinion, the most unreliable. Would be too weak for the Championship and a mistake waiting to happen every game. Couldn't cope with pace and often made rash challenges. Would be happy to see us recoup some money and put the money into someone who Potters wants and buys into his coaching.
