First of all you need a medium sized sandwich bag for instance, fill this about half way with hotish water, then either tie the top of twist it round so its secure.
Starting from the top of your windscreen slowly work your way down, and repeat the process all the way along your screen.
Take a sqeegy with you to sweep away excess water and prevent refreezing.
Not only does it warm your hands, but you don't risk cracking your screen or end up with loads of water on the floor, which can refreeze and become a hazard.
Note. Be careful of the hot water the bag must be secure, don't use boiling water straight from the kettle
I've used this method a couple of times this week,it works a treat.
Hope this helps in this weather.

I pour a full bucket of kettle water onto the windscreen.

I also loosen my wheel nuts so that they don’t freeze to the lugs in case of a puncture. Also hamerring nails into the tyres to convert them to snow tyres.

Top advice.

Water must be no hotter than lukewarm, you can just about feel some warmth in it, otherwise you risk cracking the windscreen as some people have found out.

You can also rub a potato on it the night before to keep it clear, something about the starch. DON'T rub too hard with the potato otherwise you'll end up with a chip on the windscreen.

Thanks Andy, I couldn't find that anywhere, hence the novel.
Where he's fvcked up is by not using a sqeegy,as described.👍

Listening to the radio today somebody reckoned that if you cut a potato in half and rub it all over the windscreen, in the evening before the frost comes in, the windscreen won’t freeze up.

Probably end up with a chip on the windscreen.

I heard that you should get a king Edward or maris Piper and rub them on your windscreen, don't go too hard or you'll end up with fries on the windscreen.

Put your bike in the garage then

Someone I know, in desperation, tried their bank card the other day and it made no difference.

Probably wasn't the best idea to use a contactless card.
