It should be a charity with which you have some degree of connection.

Back in the day I used to give to the Youth Hostel Association, because they were the key to easy, cheap, safe access to outdoor exploration and travel (and changed my life by providing that) and a charity called something like Rosslyn Park rugby which was for players who’d received bad injuries, because I was a player and grateful nothing like that ever happened to me.

No links, because you have to find something that you believe in ... shop at the Coop and with a loyalty card you can direct some money to a local charity of your choice.

My nephew committed suicide a few months ago. He was 15. These people have been magnificent with my Mrs and her family who are going through the kind of hell most of us thankfully can’t possibly imagine.

On a completely different level, the people at Llys Nini do fantastic work. I’m a sucker for animals, dogs especially.

The moral I suppose is don’t make value judgements about charities and who does and doesn’t donate. They’re all worthy causes and not everyone can afford to give. Give what you can to whichever charity is most important to you and if you can’t give, well that fine too.
