The BBC's ineptitude of recruiting talentless, clueless, DEI arseholes and commissioning endless hours of shit, ersatz programming that nobody wants to watch won't pay for itself you know.... So it's you and me that have to make up the shortfall in fiscal terms... A tactical nuke dropped on their smug chops would be the kindest cut... [Post edited 9 Feb 23:10]

The fact that they employ that odious oaf Jason Mohammad is enough to put anyone off, his snidey comments if Swans are losing or have lost, says everything about him. I won't have him on here, there's a few ex England rugby players I won't have on either Healey and Dawson to name but two.

There are some decent broadcasters around , but some hysteric Radio 2 Presenters on upwards of £ 400k per annum and I switch to Classic FM to listen there in the morning . Altenative is adverts every 15 minutes , even now split screen viewing is becoming the new money making option . BBC 1 and 2 , HTV Wales , even ITN as the acceptable go to with a Black and White tele .

If he’s successful and I’m sure he won’t be, it will finish off the BBC. The only way it could survive is by a government handout which we’ll end up paying for.

£600M of cuts this year as people stop paying the license fee.

People don't want to support that any more. Can't think of more than one or two BBC shows over the last five or ten years that I've made an effort to watch.

Apparently. When you don't need a licence (and can cancel): You only watch on-demand/catch-up TV (e.g., ITVX, All 4, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+). You only watch Freeview catch-up services, not live channels. You never watch live TV on any channel (BBC, ITV, Sky, etc.). You never watch BBC iPlayer.

Can’t remember the last time I watched TV. I have one but only rarely use it to watch some history doc on YouTube. I filled in the form to say I don’t need a licence but I’m still bombarded with threatening letters.

I don’t watch a lot of live tv. But today I had Radio 5 on in the car on the way to work, quickly caught up on the Winter Olympics during lunch, off to the gym now where I’ll listen to the Elis and John podcast on BBC sounds, then tonight I’ve got the last episode of the BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies. That’s a pretty typical Friday so the beeb is pretty good value for me.

I'm nearly always on YT myself tele is on though, Mrs watching or out lads room, been off all week with heavy cold and I've hardly watched tele. I've sort of watched Deal or no Deal, not seen much of it before, as a game show its tidy enough.

Don’t think my TV is even tuned into any channels. I’ve got a PS5 which I’ll jump on occasionally for a game of battlefield or something if my friends are on just for a catch up as we all live at opposite ends of the country. I have a Netflix account that I watch very occasionally but most of the time I’m just flicking through YouTube. If you can avoid the clickbait and the dross on there it’s an absolute treasure trove of good original content. Last few letters have said they are sending an officer around. When I see him coming I’ll just eat the telly and pretend it was a toaster.

The officers in question have no right of entry, my son who does not watch terrestrial TV says he gets a letter every couple of months full of thinly veiled threats.

It’s very irritating I mean why have a function on their website to tell them you don’t watch TV and therefore don’t need a licence if they are going to carry on threatening you anyway. They can’t seem to fathom that in this world of endless internet content with any genre at your very fingertips from all around the world less and less people are interested in watching endless repeats of Homes under the f*cking Hammer from 2008.

Exactly with the youngsters watching less live TV there is only one way the licence fee is going, its outdated and will soon be extinct.

Knowing the way these governments operate they’ll probably just change the law so you require a licence to stream in your property. Drag everyone into the tax.

I've watched a few YouTubes . Unfortunately they will chase you to the end of the earth if you don't pay a licence fee. They send the goons round to harass you because you maybe legally right but I will be honest. I don't think I could put up with the bully boy tactics and I do watch live content and the BBC .

It's an antiquated law which in the modern age of so many different channels needs looking at.
