That was a long time ago and now the output is average and we still pay for it now along with various other TV subscriptions. I find the Beeb OK . albeit through gtitted teeth to may the licence fee yearly .
There are some decent broadcasters around , but some hysteric Radio 2 Presenters on upwards of £ 400k per annum and I switch to Classic FM to listen there in the morning .
Altenative is adverts every 15 minutes , even now split screen viewing is becoming the new money making option .
BBC 1 and 2 , HTV Wales , even ITN as the acceptable go to with a Black and White tele . | | | |

When you don't need a licence (and can cancel):
You only watch on-demand/catch-up TV (e.g., ITVX, All 4, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+).
You only watch Freeview catch-up services, not live channels.
You never watch live TV on any channel (BBC, ITV, Sky, etc.).

But today I had Radio 5 on in the car on the way to work, quickly caught up on the Winter Olympics during lunch, off to the gym now where I’ll listen to the Elis and John podcast on BBC sounds, then tonight I’ve got the last episode of the BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies.
That’s a pretty typical Friday so the beeb is pretty good value for me. | | | |

I’ve got a PS5 which I’ll jump on occasionally for a game of battlefield or something if my friends are on just for a catch up as we all live at opposite ends of the country. I have a Netflix account that I watch very occasionally but most of the time I’m just flicking through YouTube. If you can avoid the clickbait and the dross on there it’s an absolute treasure trove of good original content.
