Not as much, not. But teams did double up on him leaving space for others. He contributed more in that year than all his replacements since combined (and I'm a fan of Montero but we certainly haven't seen value from him). Pabs was ok, but blew very cold at times and wasn't really a direct replacement.
Edit - just to be clear, this is more a comment on how we failed to replace rather than me thinking Scott's the bees knees. Ideally we need better in this league. [Post edited 3 May 2017 11:42]

Do you just mean his goal tally? Dyer did far more in our first season and the couple of seasons after Sinclair left, Routledge certainly has a case as well as Pablo.

No winger in our Premier League history has scored more goals in a season than Sinclair. Most cannot even stay fit enough to play the same amount of games he was available for. | |

If you are going to judge wingers purely on goal scoring, then yes he was the best, even though half his goals came from the spot. If you judge them on being the best winger, you are on very shaky ground.
If he was chipping in with 15-20 goals, then his goal scoring record would come into play. He got 3 or 4 from open play. I think Dyer has managed more than that a couple of times. It's semantics anyway, none of our PL wingers have done much in front of goal.
Superb in the Championship and by the looks of it the SPL. Not quite good enough in the PL. | | | |

I'm sure if Sinclair had stayed instead of leaving for a team in the Champions League, he'd have done far more than Dyer has in our seasons in this league up until now.
How 9 goals in 39 Premier League games makes him 'Not quite good enough' is bemusing. He certainly is not superb, but he would walk into our current side. He would have walked into our side every other season too. Not once have we had two wingers in the squad at the same time who are more talented than him.
Selling proven players like Sinclair and replacing them with inferior quality players is the reason we are where we are. | |
