We were freaking awesome in 12/13.

It will never be that good again.

I backed the board to the hilt over his sacking. Whether I was right or wrong at the time, I dunno. But I'm certainly more perceptive to their side of the argument now. Shame on me.

You don't know what you've got til it's gone...

He was taking us down.

Best manager we have had maybe alongside Rodgers but things went stale and we needed a fresh face, whether that was his fault however is up for debate. I suspect not.

Bobbley style? I think not. We would have survived after the distraction of the Europa league was over I have no doubt. We were by far a better side then than we were last term

Things generally do go stale for Laudrup in his second season.

Decisions made in the aftermath of his departure lead us to where we are now, not his departure itself.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

That's where I'm coming from too. I've no doubt we were heading for relegation under him, but whether that was entirely his fault I'm not so sure anymore

Because we had a better team.

We were awful for the half season previous to being in the Europa. We were awful.

Why the f*ck has this prick reared his head again? We would've been relegated years ago with him in charge.

Let's have him back for a season then!

Only went stale because of our old heads like Monk dropping in Poison though. Sent on loan to Brisitol city but decided to stay with a "bad back" and carry on stirring up trouble instead.

Jenks and Monk, both have a lot to answer for .

My take was that things went stale after a window in which Huw had insisted on letting his own team do the recruitment, missed ML's main targets, and finally brought in Bony late. I think we would have survived, but the plotting and bad feeling was already infecting the club. Does anybody remember those nasty insider leaks to the press we were getting? Somebody was working to get Laudrup out for months before he went.

Looking at Laudrups record I think it would be a mistake to think he is blameless.

2000—2002 Denmark (assistant manager)
2002—2006 Brøndby - decided to leave
2007—2008 Getafe - resigned
2008—2009 Spartak Moscow - sacked after bad results
2010—2011 Mallorca - sacked after disagreement with board
2012—2014 Swansea City - sacked after bad results and disagreement with board
2014—2015 Lekhwiya - decided not to stay
2016— Al Rayyan

Not the most committed of managers.

Monk takes us to our highest ever premier league finish and gets called all manner of things worse than a prick.

Really couldn't make it up.

Thinking the same about you

Don’t make me get my spreadsheet out — let’s see from memory

- PL record injuries
- massively crammed schedule
- both strikers out together
- playing large number of top teams
- Michu long term injured
- Bony by his own admission not up to PL fitness until Dec and injured then
- Captain sulking and plotting with Monk
- Ngog and Emnes

But in the full 5 months before his sacking still got more average points per game than Monk did in the same five months the following season

When Monk took over (after 1 win thanks to Pabs) he took us on the most number of games without a win since we has been in the PL (and well before)

But at the end of the Day we had the cup, some beautiful football and a great European adventure
