Poll: Who should be our next manager? Please name them.

I'd throw names into the hat like:

Paul Hurst (Shrews)
Maurice Steen (VVV Venlow)
Jack Ross (St Mirren)

All have a reputation for playing decent football on the front foot, and are up and coming managers with a bit of experience and proven at getting clubs to over-achieve. Nathan Jones fits that type too. They're flavour of the moment, but there's no way of knowing which will make it at the top.

I can equally see the argument for a more experienced hand to steady things. Not sure I'd be that keen on Cookie, although he's a proven motivator and did well with Fulham (long time ago now though).

I'd like to see someone who wants to go out there and play football on the front foot, not one of the old guard 'park the bus', percentage football types like Pardew, Pulis or McCarthy.

Edit - taken out Carl Robinson stuff as I'd muddled him up with Karl Robinson

My bet is on HJ getting Paul Hartley in, Falkirk manager since Oct 17.

How about Graham Potter as Head coach, and Michael Laudrup as Director of Football?

Laudrup likes some funds for quality players, something he won't get from these owners. Potter, Dean Smith or Jones for me.

Jack Ross could be a good left field choice.

I don't understand the support for Laudrup. Has any club wanted him in the last four years?

It's this "go back to what was" mentality.

Martinez, Loudstrop, Monk etc etc

"All did great for us see butt. Best football ever. Martinez taught our players how to pass, Monk saved us at Wemberleeeee and the all singing and dancing Laudrup won us a cup see."

Let's go for a clean sweep.

New chairman
New DoF
New manager
New scouting team- unless Beaky really was ignoring them and getting the likes of Ngog, Tabafatty etc himself
New belief

And a new, reunited fan base like of old

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

Dean Smith, did a good job at Walsall, and has got Brentford playing some fantastic football, knows the Championship well, young and hungry, exactly what we need

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

"Young"? He's 47!

But I agree with you. He'd be my choice.

Young, in terms of football management, took over Walsall in 2011

I live near Brenford and their fans want him to stay. I'm not even sure if we'd be a step up for him. They're building a new stadium and have a decent squad who would probably beat us and could get into the play-offs next season. They don't have much money to spend but apart from that why would he move?

Notice that Jaap Stam has moved into joint 3rd fav after Coleman & Potter with the bookies, I know that doesn't always mean much but someone has clearly put a few £££ on.

Oh god i hope not, He didn't do very well with reading did he!

Id go with Laudrup especially if BT is coming in with him. He brought some great players in last time for cheap and that's just what we need right now.

Didn't he get Reading in the playoffs in his first season?

Yeh he did reasonable 41% win percentage at Reading over his 2 seasons there but that is kiltered to a good first season ending in defeat in the play-offs & a poor second one when he was sacked in March with Reading just outside the bottom 3.

That does ring a bell. I'm Sure he was sacked when they towards the bottom though.

I've just looked up that he had a 40% win rate at reading over 98 games. that's like 55 points over a season, and 23% draws so another say 10 points for draws. That's around mid table.
I know their just stats and there's different squads etc but just theoretically speaking.

That's odd. I could have sworn the American owners appropriated upwards of 100 million in funds for players. Captain beaky wasted the lot !

Is this poll “Who you think will be manager”
Or “Who you would choose to be manager”?

Not that it really matters, I don’t suppose.

I doubt anyone is even at the club to look for a manager. Everyone will be on holidays in the Maldives I imagine, spending their ill gotten gains. Planning for next season is a much lower priority.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
