45 minutes to get from Penlan pool to Uplands this morning. wtf is that all about? Could walk it quicker (but not carrying the kids, changes of clothes and work stuff).
It's a bit obvious though isn't it - build edge of city housing estates and don't provide affordable and convenient public transport and it's bleedingly obvious the roads will get more clogged.

Dutch (and German cities) also have proper public transport systems that are fully integrated. Land at Schipol and you can get a train to most places with a simple change. Same in Munich, Hanover, Berlin and Hamburg. Direct Airport train that integrates with local and national systems. Quick and reliable and a fair price. As transport is good, there are fewer people on city roads. Bikes are a viable option.

Also you can get to Leiden, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, Eindhoven etc. very easily from Schipol. Not into Paddington, then across London to Euston etc.
Gatwick is worse. Up here Manchester Airport is pretty easy by train-but Liverpool and Leeds are train and bus.

I found Gatwick ok. Went in via Reading and straight in from Swansea.

Dreadful from the North. Usually fly from Manchester anyway-connects well to big carriers like KLM/AF, Lufthansa, Emirates, Turkish etc. Usually easier to connect than through London (apart from Paris CDG) Reasonable direct flights to the US and Canada too.

We live in Llansamlet, my wife works in Morriston hospital, she can't get to work on time by public transport unless she wants to arrive 40 mins early. Then, she'd take over 80 mins to get home. It takes around 25 mins on a normal day to drive her and come home. Taking her and picking her up is quicker than the one way journey in either direction and it's cheaper too. Public transport is woefully inadequate and expensive.
Took us over half an hour this evening to get from Briton Ferry to Junction 44, apparently the lane closures won't be lifted until tomorrow evening, in both West and East bound directions, best allow extra time when travelling through this section. I only hope they are carrying out the works over night in an attempt to get the motorway flowing as quickly as possible, it was a bit of a mess this evening.

Just heard that there is no one working there ATM, please someone tell me that's not true, if it is then it's a shocking state of affairs. Only in Britain

Merseyside and Cheshire West are not so bad thankfully. Reasonable bus service to Liverpool and Chester and the Borders line which connects to Merseyrail. When I lived in Shrewsbury, Newbury and Warwickshire public transport was a joke. It is a disgrace really

I passed at 5pm. Nobody working and the central reservation defo not done.
Well if there is no one working there now, to get this major route up and running by the morning, it's pathetic. This would not happen in countries like America and Japan.

Haven’t done much of Eastern Europe, but Brno and Budapest have good systems.
Rail fares in the U.K. are a scandal, someone has mentioned the Heathrow Express, that’s a mental price. Berlin, Malaga, Boston and loads of other cities all have decent public transport connections with their airports, we seem to lag behind.
