The experimental selection v Wigan was poor, but sticking with the same players near enough in the FA Cup ? That seemed odd, but then of course my belief is that Potter would have been under pressure to win the game for financial reasons. People were attracted to the idea because we've had a lot of managers in recent years who didn't have a clue what to do when plan A wasn't working. No one wanted another Monk or Clement standing slack-jawed in his technical area shrugging his shoulders after we concede an early goal.
Potter has proved he can fix mistakes during matches, well done to him. But he's had to do that an awful lot due to changes made to successful starting lineups and systems. Any idiot can change things up all the time, and a similar idiot could instead keep things the same come what may. Good management involves recognising when to do each, and securing points as a result. | | | |
