Start thinking/reminiscing you old JB’s 👍😉

Swans 5 Leeds 1
Tosh header v Chesterfield
Tommy Smith tackle on Ardiles
Swans 4-4 Rotherham (Dai Gwyther hat trick)
Gary Stanley goal v Man City
Max Thompson goal v Arsenal
Shrewsbury last ever game
Hull game to stay in Football League
Lee Trundle ‘shoulder roll’ v Huddersfield
Sliema Wanderers 12-0 in Europe

Poll: Why is this site so quiet these days ?

I saw all from the Gary Stanley goal down. Apart from the Silema game.

I listened to the game on the radio in the kitchen, while my old man watched the telly in the living room.

I kept him updated after every goal, but I think he thought I was taking the piss after six!

A few Vetch memories that stick in mind for whatever reasons.

Swansea 4 Stockport 4 . We were 4-0 down with 20 mins to go. Had a goal disallowed in injury time.

Playing home league games on consecutive days on the Easter holidays vs Bournemouth and Southend.

Phil Dwyer trying to assassinate the Centre stand with a diving header.(The game of the bummed Swan)

Swansea Bradford game being abandoned due to waterlogged pitch.

Beating Scunthorpe 3-1 the same day HG died :(

Its just a ride.

The Stockport game was incredible.

Best bit was meeting some guys in the pub afterwards who had left at 4-0 down. They were gutted!

Beating Preston 2-1 in the FA Cup...with the winner from Lee Trundle after chesting it down.... The atmosphere that day was electric

Arsenal 68 in the Cup.

Dai the Drops Hands

Stockport

Rotherham

Leeds 5-1

Genny catching fire during a night game

Smith Tackle on Ossie.

Jimmys goal against Chelsea, as we were mixed in with their fans , and I was right in front of it.

Georgie Best , believe it or not the only time I seen him play live.

Last but not least being behind the Crew goalie Willie Mailey , who was small of stature , but played a blinder , he was like Superman flying about making saves in a one sided game 67 or 68 that we lost.

Was thinking about the generator game. Was it during the 3 day week against Notts County on a Friday night . We were given vouchers for the game played Saturday lunchtime? Edit or Cambridge

Can't remember who we played but straw that had covered the pitch had been put behind the North Bank and set on fire during the game

Haven’t been going as long as some of you!

Matt Bounds late winner v Cardiff
Obviously the Hull game
Walter Boyds debut
Walter Boyd coming on as a sub and getting sent straight off
Getting whumped 4-0 by Kidderminster
Beating Yeovil 3-2 with Gavin Williams acting up
Trundles shoulder roll
Coates scoring from the halfway line (ish) can’t remember who against but it was a night game in winter

Last two use a bit of artistic license

Seeing the first few games Martinez, Britton and Tate played and believing for the first time in ages we had a chance
Cyril abseiling from the floodlights

No particular order

1)Andy Legg goal v Stoke
2) Thomas’ goal v Hull to make it 4-2
3) Forbes goal v Shrewsbury (last ever league match and joe Hart was in goal)
4) Swansea 0 Liverpool 0 (Lee Bracey saving us)
5) Terry Connors 2 goals v Birmingham (1 was an overhead kick)
6) The Match v the Greek Team Panathinaikos and it kicking off in the West Terrace. The Greeks were in the East Stand with us home supporters, we had to enter the East Stand from the North Bank.
7) Jimmy Gilligans goal v Cardiff in the FA Cup reffed by Cooper’s Dad.
8) Jimmy Gilligans Goal v Spurs
9) Martin Thomas’ Goal v West Ham
10) Wales in the Rugby League World Cup Match and the crunching tackles and awesome tries.

I have probably another 90 memories that I could list.

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Some good one's in there....pretty much at all of them. That Chelsea game was a day and a half. They were in the North Bank early doors and it was bedlam when are older lads came in later. The Kingsway saw some action later that afternoon.
I loved the Vetch...

The crutch and the hands were laugh out loud moments.....the other one (although not laugh out loud cos it cost us the match) was when the clearance from their keeper in his box (Notts Co) bounced over Teflon Dai as he came out to meet it and their strker walked it into the net. The groan from the whole ground said it all....

The bloke in an evening game against Hull circa 1985 who strolled across to the away end, smacked someone, then causally walked back to the North Bank. Everyone, including stewards and coppers just staring in disbelief. Still a moment that sticks out.

Beating Cardiff 3-2 after being behind.

Beating Cardiff in the snow.

Beating Cardiff in the Welsh Cup 1982

Ian Walsh's Hatrick as sub against Sliema Wanderers

The robbery by Panathinaikos in the ECWC

First game -Saturday 6.30 KO due to rugby V Birmingham. Was not expecting the level of swearing and abuse-mainly directed to Archie Gemill

First radioactive pastie sometime in 1981/82 season.

The Friday night Bristol City game-a great escape under John Bond, with Jimmy Rimmer the hero on the night.
