What is going to become of the Labour left after this election ? 21:37 - Nov 20 with 1210 viewsladyjack

When Corbyn, Skinner and McDonnell go [and they may step down/go after this election] then I don't know how many of their ilk will be left in the Parliamentary Labour party to keep the Red flag flying high, the next generation would have been the likes of Plaids Leanne Wood and Adam Price as they might have ended up in Labour when they were young if Labour had not lurched to the right, who knows, and as regards the younger generation Mhairi Black of the SNP would also fit into that category.
After a 100 odd years the red flag might well be starting to be lowered.

You know the party is now controlled by momentum right ?

I don't like it but it's a fact

If Labour should lose this election I am of the opinion that many of Corbyn’s cult would happily see him stay on as leader.
I honestly believe that.

Agree.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yep - anyway, the next leader will just be a younger, female version ( Pidcock or Wrong-Bailey) so another ten years out of government.

McCluskey & Lansman will still be pulling the strings.

Indeed. Corbyn will go, but there is a cohort of supporters pulling the strings who will preserve with the crusade. They need to come back to towards the middle ground and appoint someone with a bit of charisma if they are to be successful. Blair (not that I like him) could see that when he took over back in the 90’s.

The only way it will change s if some of the big power brokers including the Unions bring pressure on Momentum.

The nutters have waited years to take over Labour. They're not going to give it up lightly.

None will go.

The loss will be blamed on "smears", things will get far worse and the party will be taken further left in the belief that's what the public really wanted.

I am not a JC supporter by any stretch of the imagination nor am I drawn towards the Labour Party, but there’s no doubt in my mind that they have been smeared, the lies that Johnson and the press are being allowed to get away with is astonishing.

I can’t believe what McCluskey has said, if they lose which I believe they will Corbyn has to go.

What will the Labour grassroots want will be interesting, its their party and if they want a left winger that is their choice if they want someone centre left that might well be the way to go, if they want a Red Tory then there will be no point in the Labour party.

Given the noises the top bods have been making since Thursdays whooping, it appears they have not learned a thing. Theyve been "taking one for the team". Blaming the media, blaming Brexit, blaming their "inability to get their message across" etc etc. Their policies are bonkers on the whole and they just dont see it.

Unless the rest of the party find a way to take back over and remove the far left elements, say goodbye to the Labour party. The moderates may as well leave and set up their own party and let the nutters sink themselves into oblivion.

There does indeed seem to be a susceptibility for complete and utter denial and sweeping stuff under the carpet when it comes to the lefty loon nutter brigade. And talk about a lack of common sense.

They denied the Brexit referendum vote was bona fide i.e. saying it was only advisory/confirmatory and people did not know what they voted for anyway.

They denied the Brexit Party's victory in the EU elections because apparently according to them if you added all the other parties votes together the Brexit Party actually lost.

They then said, without any proof whatsoever that millions of people had changed their minds since the referendum.

Next up they claim the general election result was nothing to do with the most unelectable Labour Party/policies in history. It twas the medias fault. Not only that they sneered, insulted and slandered many of Labour's core supporters unwitting and oblivious of the repercussions of....... And?......Will continue to do so! Black comedy surreal!

Unless the Cons change over the next few years the promise of all things beautiful, without really explaining how its going to be paid for, will be like Political ejaculation to those who have been screaming "kill the Torys and Boris" these last few days.

The left will just lie low and then come out of hibernation again, from what I see the cult has taken root...............unless in a few years those denouncing the Tories now, will have their own families and homes by then and are looking forward to Holidays in Majorca.

They just need to be stronger mun, go around clubbing the rest of us into submission.

The problem lay with Labour going too far left and Momentum having too much say. I'm on board with the idea that the moderate Labour voters let Momentum devour itself and just walk away to form a more centrist party.
Labour needs to reinvent itself, any decent Labour party with a good leader would have wiped the floor with Boris, as they would have with May in 2017. If Labour put Long-Bailey in charge and continue on the same path their only hope will be that Boris has been such an awful PM that even his own dad couldn't vote for him. That is a distinct possibility.

It is very odd that so many Labour supporters seemed to like Labours manifesto yet disliked Corbyn so much they'd vote for Bojo.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
