If it works, it will be given to old ppl, care workers first, then NHS workers, however, basic things like Distance, masks and hygiene will be far more effective, but it's an additional tool

I have heard that it will start with the over 80s and front line NHS first then rolled down from there.

Yes, history will show that, sanitation, clean water, diet etc has been far more effective than vaccines. Mortality rates from all infectious diseases dropped significantly before vaccines were even introduced, so don't put all your eggs in the vaccine basket

Cholera was caused by dirty water. Smallpox was eradicated by vaccination. Polo was eradicated by vaccination. Measles mumps and rubella have been vastly reduced by vaccination. They only started to rise again after the discredited research by a doctor who was later struck off. Sadly 100,000s of parents did not vaccinate their children resulting in deaths and serious complications. Why do people still perpetuate the myth that vaccinations do not work?

Smallpox was not eradicated by vaccinations. It took 180 years to do that from it's introduction. Measles in this country dropped dramatically before the vaccination was introduced. There have been no deaths from measles since well before Andrew Wakefield came out with his study. i'm not saying vaccinations don't work to a point, but other measures are more effective, such as common sense and discipline

There is no cure for smallpox. It was eliminated by vaccinations. Yes it took many years but it had to be done on a country by country and mass vaccination did not really start until the 1960s. Before that vaccination in the UK was only administered when there was an outbreak in the UK as it was not endemic in he UK. Some people may remember the south wales outbreak in the 1960s and mass vaccination programme in south Wales. The WHO started their worldwide smallpox eradicated programme in the 1960s and declared the would free of smallpox in 1980. It took only 20s years a remarkable success story.

No , that's not the case. There were mass inoculations well before that. The big epidemic of 1870 was 70 years after it was introduced and proved to be worthless. The WHO did embark on a programme, but that was to find pockets of the disease world wide, in conjunction with test and trace and other methods. It was not purely down to vaccination

Look back further than the 60s when the vaccination was introduced and you will find that death rates did not decrease any quicker after it was introduced There are no measles deaths in the uk yearly

It was eradicated by a collaborative global vaccination programme led by WHO. They and the countries where smallpox was endemic embarked on a mass vaccination programme.

They went nuts a long while back. There may be other vaccines out soon too, apparently there are 154 other vaccines in development! If these vaccines work and covid i brought under control, what will the anti vaxxers say then? that is was a combination of following the rules, distancing, wearing masks, washing hands....all those things people haven't been doing. Lets just hope these vaccines work.

Yes, smallpox is the only desease actually declared as "eradicated" by vaccine. Others are very close to being eradicated.

You are absolutely correct. Although Jenner described smallpox vaccines in 1796, full vaccination programmes Only began in the 20th century. The WHO vaccination programme led to eradication in 1977. Polio (wild polio) has also been eradicated, though mutated vaccine strains may still cause disease (though infrequently). Vaccination has also eradicated rinderpest, a disease of cattle. Cholera is caused the the bacterium Vibrio cholerae found in contaminated/dirty water. What you say about measles is also correct (thanks to Wakefield), Though the rise is from around 100 to around 4-5000 cases in the U.K. There are occasional deaths from it in the U.K., but over 100,000 worldwide. Vaccines work. Work even better with other controls

Just a footnote the vaccination act of 1853 made it compulsory to vaccinate young children. Smallpox was not longer endemic in the UK by 1930. Later small outbreaks were always traced back to foreign nationals bringing smallpox into the UK, usually seaman when visiting port towns.
