Winston Churchill - The Darkest Hour
at 22:10 5 Mar 2018

Just finished watching The Darkest Hour after seeing Gary Oldman won an Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill.

I had a quick search through twitter to see what people thought of the film and most comments were about Churchill being a racist and someone who should not be lauded in this day and age.

Do you agree?

What are everyone's thoughts on him?

80/1 to be next US President.

I love him except on guns and abortion.

The Smith fight - Rubbish.

The Rigondeaux fight - A farce. I advise any boxing fan to watch the whole fight and referee's adjudication because it is baffling.

The Ward fight - (still on going) but it looks like the winner will be the boxer who most appeals to the judges. I can't split them at all.

Mayweather v Mcgregor
at 23:09 14 Jun 2017

Confirmed. Horrible news.

The only positive is that it will show all the blinkered UFC fans how hard it is to land when fighting an actual boxer (at the lower weights). So many people on twitter saying something along the lines of 'Conor has overcome the odds before, he can do it again'.

Sadly, if Mcgregor hurts Mayweather in any way I will instantly assume that the fight is fixed. There is no way Mayweather gets through 12 rounds with Canelo with ease and struggles against Conor.

Your Greatest Sporting Achievement.
at 23:07 23 May 2017

What is your greatest sporting achievement?

I'm not very sporty anymore but a hole in one is probably the best for me. Closely followed by a 161 checkout in darts and numerous 180s. The finally seven balling a few people in Pool.

What makes them so great is I'm not very good at any of the above 'sports'.

Lee Selby has just won in a one sided performance. I've always liked Lee but his brother, Andrew, could be even better.

I expect Haye to walk all over Bellew, don't like either boxer though so i'm just hoping for a war.

Eggington v Malinaggi will probably be a borefest. Malinaggi seems more interested in being a tv personality than a boxer these days.

Davies v Matthews should be a cracker. No love lost between them, I hope Matthews gets a result.

The biggest fight of the night though is Garcia v Thurman. I hope Garcia wins, he's been in with the better fighters but arguably lost a couple of fights where the decision went his way. Thurman has a lot of power, should be a great fight.

Darts

In light of Eric Bristow's tweets this evening and the World Championships coming up... Does anyone on here play darts/follow the sport regularly?

I only started back in January but really getting into it. It's strangely addictive.

The draw for the World Championships were today and we are guaranteed a Welshman in the 2nd round as Gerwyn Price faces Jonny Clayton in the first round.

The Club's Social Media Presence
at 22:11 3 Aug 2016

Has anyone else noticed a massive improvement in recent weeks in regards to the club communicating with the fans via social media?

The club have launched a snapchat account and I am struggling to keep up with the amount of interviews/highlights they've put on youtube.

I have no idea whether this move into the 21st century was made by the new owners who may have thought during their due diligence stage that we did not have a big enough social media footprint or this is just coincidental. Either way it is a welcome improvement.

I don't expect too many to be up watching this (its 5:47am) but he is definitely the most recognisable combat sportsman from GB and Eire. An undisputed superstar who has a bigger following than anyone in UFC.

However, not too many casual sport fans in the UK know about him. Definitely a polarising character, but if he beats Aldo he will have conquered the world.

Edit: I'll qualify 'most recognisable' by adding 'worldwide'. In the UK, he is way behind AJ, Froch, Khan.

FA Cup 3rd Round Draw
at 15:58 7 Dec 2015

All the Monk threads are getting a bit tedious.

The draw is tonight with Coleman and Dan Biggar picking the balls out of the hat.

Who would you like us to get?

I'd like the winner of Dagenham and Redbridge v Whitehawk away or Newport County away.
