Offensive or simply the truth?
at 10:41 24 Oct 2021

They can do it and IMO the Saudi regime needs to be exposed but 4 things to consider ...
The UK sells them millions of ££££ of arms and items tat can (and it seems) are used for torture.
Like it or not the Suadi's control oil and therefore underpins much of the West's capitalistic tenancies.
Removing the ruling families would be almost impossible and the resulting power vacuum in the Middle East would make other regime changes in the area seem like a family squabble.
The rulers of Russian, USA and Israel are little if no better but they are considered acceptable friends.

Birmingham City v Swansea City: Matchday Thread 2021/22 ÀFTERMATH

The difference being this season Martin is being criticised for not being Cooper and for moving towards entertaining football.
I've not looked back but how often did Cooper's sides win a local derby, beat the team second in the divisions and then a team of roughly equal standing with us and all within 6 days?
As I wrote elsewhere players really had given their all v Cardiff and WBA and at the end of the game last Weds several looked completely drained, naughty in particular. I am not surprised they were flat for the 3rd game in less than a week.
IMO Martin should have played Cabango if he was fit. WBA dominated in the air with little opposition and we were toothless from corners.I'm not saying Ben would have been soaring like an eagle to head home but his presence puts pressure on the opposition and gives other players space.

Very little presence in the air from our defence.
Isn’t St Andrews is being redeveloped hence the small crowd?

Downes had gone wide to collect the ball and Cabango moved inside to cover Downes' position. Cabango then moved back to the left to pick up his position and was in place to mark their 7.
Downes, instead of moving in-field to reset the formation and shadow their 10, went wide towards their 7 and left the 10 unmarked. Cabango moved to cover the 10 who passed to the 7 who Downes failed to track back with.`
The player who went walkabout was Downes.
Sequence of events -
Loose flick Pato
Weak challenge Smith
Player out of position Downes
Sleepy defender Bennet.
Cabango did not struggle in the first half at all just made to look out of place for the goal by covering Downes.

With all due respect, we do know what he could do 'prior' because he his record before coming to us speak for itself.

Whatever the reason it appears to have worked.
If Piroe is looking to leave after scoring a few goals it may indicate an ego beyond his talent given his previous scoring record.
It does look like the Cooprolites are out to find any reason to attack Martin. If there is / was an attitude problem with Piroe and he'd played from the start there is no guarantee he would have scored goals. In fact, given his spells with Rotterdam and PSV his senior goal scoring record was ... poor. That said Obafei's is even weaker.

Although they have a poor recent run of games a single goals against Rotherham and Huddersfield would have them on the same points as us.
This game will be difficult.
Several of our players looked completely shattered after the WBA win.
Brum would love to beat the team that just beat WBA.
We are still very much a work in progress.
I'd like to think 0 - 2 but it will be much tougher than Cardiff.

Swansea City v WBA : Matchday Thread : 2021/22 TUES UPDATE

The ' current anti-Grimes troupe' doesn't exist. Questioning his play started to show up in Cooper's early days and after he was made captain.
Under Potter he was very good in several positions then Cooper came in, made him captain and played him at the heart of midfield and he has been poor. He hides, he loses the ball (but his effort to get it back gives the impression he is industrious) his high passing success is based on very safe passing, he passing slows down movement (e.g. look back at the number of times Cabango, who it is claimed by some is slow, played first touch passes then compare with Grimes).
He has seemed a little better lately which I put down to other players being more active.
Midfield of Ncham, Downes and Smith would be my first choice.

Leaving the ground last night I overheard a conversation that included comments such as;
'We're stuck in a relegation battle.'
'I don't like this manager ... too much passing in our own half.'
'Martin is $hit, he'll get us relegated.'
Two games in 4 days.
A derby game hammering of Cardiff.
Coming back from a dreadful start to beat the second in the league and one of the hot favourites for promotion.
Mostly entertaining football.
6 points.

Remember THAT season ?
at 12:29 21 Oct 2021

Glory days, best season ever.
But we shouldn’t forget the cost, especially that incurred in the second season that saw us plummet to the basement of the football league.
Thankfully we have management that has ensured that didn’t happen again.

I like the style he has developed and is developing and he deserves praise for sticking to his principles, but there are two manager things, apart from the obvious positive ones, from last night that stood out …
He needs to keep a settled back line with Cabango who doesn't give away the free kicks in dangerous positions that we see from Manning and Latibeaudiere. But the fluidity in defence and with some midfielders interchanging with the last line was excellent.
Secondly, he needs to get Ncham fit for 90 minutes. It was an injury to Downes that forced the half time change so Martin got a little luck. Downes is good and shows huge promise as a defensive midfielder but Ncham really is a class or three above the youngster. Ideally for me our midfield would pair them with Smith.
Last was , for many, an indication of where we are in comparison to top 6 sides … they answered those questions handsomely and now it is all about staying fit and consistent.
Top half expected … top 6 not a surprise.
