Abolish the BBC license tax
at 20:43 10 Jun 2019

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/235653

It’s about time parasites got into the 21st century and the enforced tax was abolished.

And now pensioners are going to be pushed into poverty so multimillionaires like Lineker can be paid millions a year.

Sign the petition.

Hartsons sister not charged.

Fair dos to the girl she certainly knows a good bet when she sees one £50 on a 8/1 shot.

Maybe the other 10 who are still under suspicion should have done Ht/ft like her instead of the straight 5-0 at massive odds.

Her brother should take some advice from her when it comes to gambling, but I expect she's only getting back a tiny fraction the mug lost.

Idiots walking in the bike lane.
at 14:19 13 May 2018

Just had a 90 minute walk between the Marina and Mumbles I could not believe how many idiots walk on the side allocated for bicycles walking 3 abreast and taking up the entire bicycle lane when no one is on the pedestrian side.

These people should not be allowed out alone with the danger they are causing I guarantee during the summer there will be many accidents,I saw about 4 close calls today these idiots will only have themselves to blame when they get smashed.

Major Trauma Centre - Rebecca Evans AM for Gower -response..
at 20:48 11 May 2018

Thank you for your email regarding the establishment of a Major Trauma Network for South and West Wales and South Powys. Despite the tone of your email, I am pleased to provide you with a full response.

As you will be aware, ours is currently the only region of England and Wales that does not have either a major trauma network or access to a designated major trauma centre.

The Health Boards in this region recently approved the recommendations generated by the Independent Panel of experts. The Panel recommended that:

- A major trauma network for the region should be quickly developed
- The adult and children’s major trauma centre should be on the same site
- The major trauma centre should be at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff
- Morriston Hospital should become a large trauma unit and should have a lead role in the major trauma network
- A clear and realistic timetable for putting the trauma network in place should be set

Before the recommendations were made, I met with the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Services to impress upon him the importance of ensuring that constituents in Gower benefit fully from any new major trauma service. I have now sought a further meeting to discuss the concerns and disappointment that you and other constituents have shared with me now that the decision has been made.

From an early stage, I have been very clear that, should the decision be that the major trauma centre be situated in Cardiff, there should be no negative effects on the breadth of provision and expertise available at Swansea’s hospitals. Constituents expressed concern that there may be plans to move the much respected Burns and Plastic Unit from Morriston to Cardiff, and I was keen to receive a clear statement that this would not be the case. The Health Secretary put on record that ‘this Government has no intention of moving the Burns and Plastic Unit.’

Following concerns circulating locally last autumn, I also sought assurance from the Health Secretary that Singleton Hospital would also continue to be an important provider of health services to people in our area. He told me that, “As part of the plans for a Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board has developed a clinical model for the Singleton Health Campus. This will enable the site to fulfil its role as part of a regional network of hospitals that will provide the right level of care in the best place.”

I want to see services, expertise and excellence expanded at our Swansea hospitals. That is why I welcomed the news that the Royal College of Surgeons has recommended that thoracic surgery (currently provided in both Cardiff and Swansea) should be centralised at Morriston Hospital.

I will be exploring with the Cabinet Secretary the key questions and issues that constituents are raising with me. For example, more detail is sought as to what Morriston becoming a ‘large trauma unit’ with a ‘lead role in the major trauma network’ will mean in practice. In particular, information is required about what additional investment will be made in infrastructure and clinical expertise at Morriston, and what the expected timescales are for this.

Approximately 0.2% of patients attending Accident and Emergency have sustained major trauma. For these patients, stabilisation at the scene and a timely transfer to the most appropriate place of treatment will be vital. I will be exploring with the Cabinet Secretary what if any changes will need to be made to the Air Ambulance Service in order to provide the level of coverage required.

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board tells me that the evidence underpinning the decision “clearly demonstrates that patients sustaining life-threatening or life-changing injuries who are treated within a properly constituted major trauma network have an increased chance of survival and make a better recovery, irrespective of where in the region they sustain their major trauma.” Again, I will explore what the transport implications are for this.

If there are other issues that you would like me to raise or make representations about on your behalf, I will do so.

I hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,

Rebecca

Shes just saying be grateful that the burns unit at Morriston has not yet gone but we all know in time it will.

The Labour WAG are a total disgrace to the people of Wales outside Cardiff prepared to put their electorates lives at risk rather than jeopardise their political careers .

Life Expectancy coming down.
at 11:52 17 Jan 2018

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/life-expectancy-falls-by-a-year-in-several-re

So we can assume the age of receiving the old age state pension will no longer rise?

All parties have felt the need and proposed to raise the age so this is not a politically motivated post.

Various reports in the last year or two have stated within the UK life expectancy is actually coming down.

Here is another.
