Ruptured his achilles vs Haverfordwest last week, which means he'll be out for sometime.

It also means we won't be able to get shot of him this window like we were obviously hoping too. I still think who ever sanctioned his signing should be given the sack for giving a three year deal to a notorious sick note who spent almost the entire previous season out injured. Having said that, maybe they've already left the club.

I don't want to see too harsh on the lad as he's undoubtedly a talented player, it's just a shame he's made of glass.

International Break Bounce.
at 21:44 5 Apr 2022

We are unbeaten in the 2 games immediately following international breaks this season, including 2 hammerings of Cardiff. P8, W5, D3. 18 points out of 24, 2 of the draws being 0-0s following the September break. Some of our best performances have come after an Intl. break.

Does that lend any credence to the idea that we're a better side when Russ has more time on the training pitch with them, to drill them in his system better? Or is it fluke?

I think it's an interesting observation.

Ben Hamer
at 17:43 21 Mar 2022

4th highest clean sheet % in the league this season.

1) Wes Foderingham - 58.3% (24 apps)
2) Nathan Baxter - 50% (12 apps)
3) Matija Sarkic - 43.5% (23 apps)
4) Ben Hamer - 42.9% (21 apps)

Not sure it says anything in particular about Ben as I can't recall more than a game or two where he kept us in it. If nothing else a reminder of how defensively sound we were for parts of the first half of the season. We're still 5th in the league for clean sheets now.

It's just a shame we've conceded shed-fulls in most of our other games.

Shots from inside the box.

Saw a stat on twitter this morning. We have the 2nd fewest in the league (184) ahead of Peterborough (156). Even Barnsley have managed more than us (193).

Got to be better than that with a squad that should be comfortably mid-table in those standings. I knew it wasn't great but I'm surprised we're that low.

Overreaction?

In the last 6 games (since we have restarted after our break) we have won 2, lost 2, drawn 2. Over that period we are 13th in the form table. Let's look at who we've played:

Away v Huddersfield (D). They were in good form then, good form since. 6th in the form table, currently 5th in the division.
Home v Preston (W). Unbeaten since we beat them- won 2, drawn 2. 9th in the form table, 11th in the league.
Away v QPR (D). In fantastic form. We are the only team they have failed to beat in their last 6. 1st in form table, 4th in the league.
Away v Hull (L). Had just come off the back of beating Blackburn and Bmouth (2 of top 4). New manager bounce, too. 11th in Form table, 19th in the league (3 points behind us).
Home v Luton (L). Only lost 1 of last 6. 5th in the form table, 9th in the league.
Home v Blackburn (W). Same record in last 6 as us. 14th in the form table, 2nd in the league.

Despite all the whinging and relegation talk, we've objectively done ok results wise since we restarted if you actually consider who we've played. It's been far from perfect but a bit of perspective needed for some?

Couldn't see a thread.

Anyone watching? Gerwyn Price just survived a scare v Huybrechts, 4-3 with a final set tie-break. Incredible game of darts. Very good viewing.

Xmas in Isolation?
at 16:41 20 Dec 2021

Looking like it for me.

Late yesterday evening began to find my self with a tickly throat, then up most of the night with night sweats. Lateral flow test positive this morning (received a negative result Friday night), awaiting PCR results from test this afternoon.

Feel ok, just a bit fatigued with an occasional tickly cough. Think it says something about the infectiousness of Omicron and it's vaccine escapism that I haven't been particularly careful in recent months- going to football matches, packed bars, etc quite regularly- and never caught Delta. Omicron has been around 3 weeks and working off the standard timeline I seem to have caught it sat in a largely empty pub on a Tuesday night. Did think twice about going as my drinking partner had been in London the previous weekend, but to my knowledge he hasn't had a positive test.

Anyway, anybody else on here in the same boat? People seem to be catching it left right and centre at the minute!

Another 9 points deducted, they're gone.

Feel for their fans as met a few nice blokes up there when we played them but it's the comeuppance the club deserves for trying to buy their way to the Premier league. Hope it serves as a warning to others going forward, but I doubt it'll be the last time we see it happen.

Borini
at 13:10 11 Mar 2021

With our current er... shall we say... difficulties in the striker position, I just thought back and remembered we were linked with re-signing Fabio on a free back in October.

Signed for a Turkish Super Lig team in December and by all accounts has done ok, scoring 5 goals in 10 matches for a team currently in 8th place.

I must say when we were linked I liked the idea of signing him; to boost squad depth if nothing else. Now I look back and think maybe we missed a trick?

I know he's not the player he was but with our 2 first choice strikers misfiring and our rotation options up front at present being a 36 year old winger, an inexperienced kid the manager evidently doesn't want to play, and an American winger we also apparently have no interest in playing?

I'd love to have had Borini as an option for the match on Saturday.

Ryan Manning
at 23:45 22 Feb 2021

I'd like to see Ryan get some more game time going forward. Bidwell hasn't been at his best for a while now, and I've always felt Manning looks more comfortable than him going forward (his pullback for Cullen vs Forest was perfect for example). He hasn't looked bad defensively either.

As a bit of trivia, maybe I'm the only one but I didn't realise it was him who scored the two penalties against us in our infamous late 2-1 capitulation to Rotherham in November '18. We should have scored at least five in that game.
