Knowing their jobs
at 09:37 22 Jan 2017

Post-match interviews aren't generally any source of great insight, but it's interesting hearing a few of the boys all pointing out this idea of knowing what they were meant to be doing. To me, it's clearly an indication that BB was totally out of his depth, giving mixed messages and setting up the team in a poor manner.

Although Siggy and Llorente have the goals in them to get us out of this mess, the reality is that an upturn in the performances of Naughton, FF and Cork is what we've really needed. I really hope that has something to do with them knowing what role they're meant to be playing in the side.

Losing the playing identity hurts more than the threat of relegation
at 09:29 8 Nov 2016

Not sure about anyone else, but I think this needs to be made loud and clear to those in charge. The Premier League journey was always likely to end at some point, but to do so playing such dreadful football is just depressing. We have become just another club.

I expected us to go straight back down when we first came into the league. Despite losing 4-0 to Man City on the opening day, we were still playing good stuff and I enjoyed that game in the same way I enjoyed the promotion season before it. The premier league is not intrinsic to our enjoyment of the game and I valued the playing identity and style over the league we are in.

With that in mind, I would give BB more time to see if he has plans to put some sort of cohesive tactical plan in place — because I can't see anything resembling a style at the moment. If there's no improvement, we need to make a decision because surely it's better to get back the style before all remnants of it are removed.

Quietly confident?
at 10:19 7 Aug 2016

Quite like the look of the team at the moment. Top 10 achievable again, me thinks.

Only caught the highlights of the Rennes game, but thought Fer looked excellent. Be interested to hear from anyone at the game, but he really seemed to put himself about.

For me, this has got to be the season where Barrow breaks through as a regular starter. As exciting as Montero can be, Barrow does seem to have something extra about him as he's got an eye for a shot too. Think we could do with another right back, but squad looks pretty good with Baston coming.

Edit — Just watched FG's interview too. Nice to see his English has improved to the point where he can go beyond: "they're a good team. We played well, etc." Will make his press conferences and post match interviews much more watchable. Good on you, Franco! YJB

Rumours of him leaving Arsenal. Could get pelters on here for this, but I think he'd be an excellent signing if we went for him. His games not built on speed and so, at 29, he's got a good few years left. His ball control is fantastic and offers a Bony type option in the air, both when attacking and defending. Ok he's not prolific but he is a proven PL scorer.

He's got a great touch, hasn't he. Some of his passes on the counter are brilliant too. Would like to see him get into better positions for shooting opportunities — although, that could be as much down to our build up play as anything — as he only seems to have one or two shots a game.

He hasn't really impressed me at the Liberty yet, but away from home he's been pretty good. Think we'll still need a new No.1 striker in the summer, but he's looking good as a bench option.

Anyone think he could cover Glyfi at No.10? I feel we're a bit short for cover in that position, especially if Ayew goes in the summer. But at the same time, I'd much rather us spend for a striker, CB, wide player and 1, possibly 2, full backs.

Team for Stoke
at 17:21 30 Mar 2016

Fab
Naughton Ash Fede Kingsley
Cork Leon
Barrow Siggy Montero
Gomis

Would be my team. Siggy has played quite a bit of football over the last week, so wouldn't mind seeing Paloschi given a go behind Gomis. If that was the case, would probably play Routs over Montero, though.

Form since Guidolin has taken charge
at 08:20 3 Mar 2016

Arsenal 1-2 Swansea City
Tottenham 2-1 Swansea City
Swansea City 0-1 Southampton
Swansea City 1-1 Crystal Palace
West Bromwich 1-1 Swansea City
Everton 1-2 Swansea City

He's done well, hasn't he. 8 points from 6 games. 1.33 points per game. That form across a full season puts you at 50 points and almost guarantees a top half finish.

The football hasn't exactly been inspiring, but he came in at a tough time. Have to say, too, Curt deserves a hell of a lot of credit. Stay up this year and surely there should be some sort of tribute to Mr Curtis.

Onwards we go — let's sink the Canaries on Saturday.

Why don't players from Serie A adapt well to the tricky Premier League?
at 10:24 29 Jan 2016

Interesting article: http://www.espnfc.com/blog/tactics-and-analysis/67/post/2795809/serie-a-struggle

I've been happy with Fede's performances overall, so hopefully any other players we do bring from Serie A serve to be the exception to the rule.

How about this?
at 03:11 22 Nov 2015

Fab
Kyle Fede Ash Neil
Cork Ki
Routs Siggy Montero
Ayew

Tell Ayew to do the closing down work that Gylfi is currently doing, and then play everything through Gylfi. I'd argue that he's the most talented player in our sqaud, and someone you can build a team around. I can't see Ayew being great at holding the ball up, but his work rate is good and he can take a chance.

Would you take Joe Allen back?
at 09:57 6 Oct 2015

Obviously, it remains to be seen whether LFC's new manager rates Allen, but if he was available, would you want him back?

I feel this summer will be the right time to freshen up the midfield. I can understand why the club elected not to sign Tom Carroll, although I rate him highly. I can imagine Ki or possibly Jonjo may look to move on next season, so buying Allen or even going back for Tom C would make sense for me.

If we could get him at the right price (5-8M, IMO), I'd say go for it, Garry.

Despite what some say, I think Monk handles the press very well. Good stuff from him here. His recent history as a player seems to put him in an excellent position to comment on the current landscape of football.

On the pitch wish-list for the rest of the season
at 15:25 4 Nov 2014

Of course, wins are the thing we all need, but perhaps like me you'll have a list of things you'd love to see this season:

1. Good FA Cup run
2. Our centre backs scoring a couple from set pieces (have some hopes for Fernandez here)
3. Fulton or another youngster coming through and getting more game time.
4. Leon to come back to full fitness (whether or not he retains a starting 11 doesn't worry me, but it's been a while since he had such a long spell out and I hope it hasn't affected his ability to nip around and generally keep us ticking over).
5. Ki to score a few goals
6. Gylfi putting in an outside of the box effort, something like that one at Wigan he scored.

Anyone else?
