A mercurial talent. A wing wizard. Alongside R James and Curtis my favourite footballer. My best moment watching him play was in May 1981 at Preston. Standing in line with the edge of the Preston penalty box when James scored our second goal I think it was. A stunning 25 yarder when he cut in from the left onto his right foot. I last spoke to him last year at Pontarddulais CC. Loved an argument. Spoke his mind. You knew where you were with him. Sad indeed that he’s gone. ❤️ |

The FAW Chief Exec Noel Mooney is doing a fine job to be fair. Much of the financial windfall from Wales qualification for the World Cup Finals ( est £10m ) has been allowed to filter through to the clubs at all levels in the form of grant applications which has benefitted so many clubs in terms of allowing them to improve their grounds and facilities etc As for layers of managers I’m not sure where you get that information from? Of course with our best clubs in Wales playing in England it restricts certain development eg the Welsh Cup and our chances in Europe but overall the FAW is doing a good job. Holding that final in Newport does seem strange but the venue was probably chosen early in the season. |

| Forum Reply | Role of Fullbacks. at 23:05 10 Apr 2024
The role of the modern full back involves getting forward as much as possible to assist attacking options. This is not the 1970,s. Key and Tymon perform the role well albeit both could be more consistent. You were suggesting that our full back was causing problems by getting forward which quite clearly wasn’t the case. Keys goal tonight underlined the importance of getting full backs high up the pitch. His run wasn’t tracked by Stoke either. Anyway very good win tonight. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 |

You’re doing your best to find a fault with something when it doesn’t exist. I’d prefer to go along with the likes of Klopp and Guardiola. |
| Forum Reply | Role of Fullbacks. at 13:55 10 Apr 2024
Just take a look at the best clubs in world football and how they play. Manchester City and Liverpool to name two of the best Full backs getting forward whenever they can. Overlapping and cutting inside to offer support. It’s how you maximise the potential of your players. The intention is to create an over load whereby your team outnumber the opponent in that area of the pitch. Or try to. By the way both Bidwell and Manning are both equally very good at getting forward. You are looking for things that aren’t there. |
| Forum Reply | Role of Fullbacks. at 23:16 9 Apr 2024
You’re looking for something that’s not there. Good, fit, quick full backs will get forward at every opportunity to support their team-mate on that side of the pitch. To help try to create an over load. You seem to be looking for a stick to beat someone with. You're way wide of the mark. |
| Forum Reply | Russell Martin to Brighton? at 20:18 9 Apr 2024
Yes agreed but the lure of managing in the Premier League if Saints don’t get there would be too much to turn down especially at a club that would suit Martin. As we know ourselves certain clubs suit certain managers. Brighton would be ideal for him. |
| Forum Reply | Russell Martin to Brighton? at 20:14 9 Apr 2024
“ A lot of the Rodgers games were often dull to watch too “. 😂 Clueless. Dull to watch? Give some examples. I think you’ll find that they were exciting times. Getting promoted to the Premier league and then doing very well. You don’t have a good word to say about any of our managers. It’s strange. Even the best ones in our history and that includes Rodgers, Martinez, Laudrup etc. |
| Forum Reply | Russell Martin to Brighton? at 17:53 9 Apr 2024
Martin would be a good fit for Brighton if Southampton don’t go up. Hopefully they’ll go up with Leeds and Leicester though via play offs but it’s a lottery so anything is possible. |

Beware of complacency especially when your football club is in the wrong hands as ours is. We know who is to blame for that. Say no more. Look at Darlington FC. They moved into their new all seater stadium around 20 years ago from Feethams. They were soon relegated and again and now play in the National league North at another ground, they had 1700 there last week. We are not immune. It could happen. We desperately need to see new ownership, local football people that are passionate and with ambition and money but are they around? Possibly not. Not at the moment anyway. |
| Forum Reply | Would it be better if Swansea got relegated.? at 15:04 8 Apr 2024
That’s because in nearly every instance Managers will want focussed, committed and hard working honest players around them that they can rely on. Whittaker for example is a bit of an enigma. One goal at Derby in 20 odd games and two at Swansea in over 30 appearances did not show that he was worth the baggage albeit he showed in glimpses some ability. He’s now 23 and matured. Settled at Plymouth and is playing regular football and he seems to have grown up. It’s easy with hindsight. He often looked lazy and you do not want that in your team. |

I didn’t see the game at Middlesbrough but I’d disagree with the general sentiments about Grimes as a leader. He does lead by example. Always showing for the ball, taking responsibility and available to help move us forward by keeping possession, calmly with an outstanding range of passing. It’s not cricket where the captain out on the pitch is constantly making key decisions which can help win or lose a game. A team can have several natural leaders out on the pitch not just the player wearing the arm band. You do not need a Roy Keane type character charging around the pitch like a demented XL bully. Who for example can name the Manchester City captain? He quietly gets on with his business. I understand that today was a poor performance but you can’t blame that in the Captain. |

All of the managers we’ve had here have done a good job since our relegation. With the exception of Michael Duff. He shouldn’t have had the job but that’s another story. Russell Martin was a very good fit at our club and particularly towards the end of his time here we played some very good football during an 11 ? game unbeaten run. That takes some doing at any level but in the championship especially it’s some achievement. I’m beginning to wonder if he’s attempted to murder Winstons Nan or something similar such is the level of vitriol. Failing that I’m putting it down to jealousy. We are doing ok. Considering our lack of direction and ambition from the owners. Selling your best players means that you are doing well to retain status. We are doing that, just. Things need to change at the top for us to see progress though. |

It’s an interesting discussion We must not forget that Jenkins also got lucky. At important times. Let’s be honest. Intelligent he is not. Charismatic he is not. He was a fan and took a punt so credit to him for that and he made some good decisions. We had a couple of really good seasons in the Premier League. It was good to see local people run our club. His understanding of running a club improved and the move to the new stadium was a big part of the success. But we must realise that he made some huge mistakes. Costly ones. He was out of his depth as a Premier league chairman. And then the sale of the club business which has left a bad taste. He got away with that somehow but the people will not forget … |

“Why include them?” I’m not going over old ground again but morally and legally there are reasons to have included them in negotiations ( from Day One ). The Trust had a strong case we know that. I don’t know why they didn’t pursue it. I’m assuming that was down to a change in personnel at the Trust. Either way it was handled badly in an underhand, sneaky manner by Jenkins et al. It’s such a shame as he’d done so much good work prior to that. |
| Forum Reply | Huw has taken on a real big challenge. at 20:05 4 Apr 2024
As you’ll know, it seems that they excluded the Swansea city supporters trust when the club was being sold. Until the latter stages of negotiations that is. To me that says a lot about them. It’s history. In my view though that blotted their copy book. Other opinions are available. |
| Forum Reply | Nathan Woods Contract Extended ... at 16:57 4 Apr 2024
Good news. Wood could go all the way. We must remember he’s hardly played any league games at first team level before coming to Swansea. That lack of experience is evident occasionally but he’s big strong confident and athletic enough to go play at the top. He’s been included with England at almost all age groups including Under 21 so he’s on the radar of lots of clubs and you can be certain of that. |
