Swindon Boss Wilson Confirms Austin at Portman Road Holding Talks

Swindon boss Danny Wilson has confirmed that Robins striker Charlie Austin has been at Portman Road today holding talks with the Blues, as reported by TWTD earlier this afternoon. Town and the Wiltshire club have agreed a fee for the 21-year-old believed to be somewhere between £1.5 million and £2 million, including the usual appearance and achievement clauses.

Wilson said: "We've had a bid accepted from them and we've given Charlie permission to talk to Ipswich. What the outcome at this moment in time is I don't know. He's down there at the moment.

"It could be an all day job, it could be tomorrow, it might not happen at all and in a selfish way I hope it doesn't.

"But I can't really see that happening. Particularly now with the transfer window closing, clubs are now looking to get the player they've been tracking for most of the season."

Blackpool are also understood to have made a bid, while Southampton and Burnley have been linked but Town are so far the only club whose offer has been accepted.

We understand Town have offered Austin a three-and-a-half year contract.
