Focus now on finishing rebuilding the defence
Focus now on finishing rebuilding the defence

Neil Warnock has told the official Leeds United website that Lee Peltier is one of several options as he looks at finishing the rebuilding of Leeds' notoriously dodgy defence.

Warnock has brought in Jason Pearce and Adam Drury to pep up the department that arguably has been our downfall for two seasons now, the defence.

A right-back is on the shopping list and Leeds have been linked with former Huddersfield defender Lee Peltier, who is apparently surplus to requirements at Leicester City. However Leeds face competition from his former club who reportedly had a £650,000 bid snubbed by the Foxes last week.

With a fresh influx of cash from the sale of Robert Snodgrass, Warnock now has the money to compete with Huddersfield for the services of Peltier, but he was somewhat coy when asked about the ex Liverpool academy player, claiming he was one of "several" options.

Warnock also revealed he is chasing a striker, he has played down reports of Nicky Maynard joining Leeds in a shock transfer from West Ham.

Warnock also has to decide on the future of trialist Martin Crainie and is expected to make a decision on the former Southampton and Coventry player after tonight's warm-up match at Torquay.

Crainie is a centre-back but can play along the back four.

If Leeds do sign him, he will be yet another Portsmouth old-boy! Crainie played twice for them in 2007 under Harry Redknapp!
