"Probably we lost a bit of focus because of the circumstances surrounding the game," said Martinez.

"I feared that beforehand because of the club record and the old manager coming back."

"We played very well, this was the best performance since I have come to Millwall. We were very disciplined, strong and had a real determined look about us.

Hopefully this is something we can build on. At times our midfield has not been strong enough this season, but we were dogged and strong tonight.

We can't afford to sit back though and hopefully this is something to build on. We have got a game at Yeovil on Tuesday and whilst this is a very good victory that we deserved, we have to focus on the next match now."
