Alan Tate says he believes Huddersfield will beat Doncaster tomorrow

Huddersfield entertain their local rivals tomorrow and if they win and Swansea do as well promotion will be secured to the second tier of the league for the first time since 1984.

And whilst everything is very much in Swansea's hands this season, they won't refuse to take any help offered to secure that at the earliest opportunity and become the first football league side to secure promotion this season.

Doncaster lost at home to Leeds on Tuesday night to set up the scenario for Saturday, a game that Tate - along with Garry Monk - kept a close eye on "I was round at Garry Monk's house watching the Champions League on Tuesday," Tate reveals.

"We kept flicking from the (Manchester United) game to the latest scores in our league and it couldn't have gone any better for us.

"Leeds went 1-0 up fairly early on at Doncaster so we were praying they'd hold on.

"It was 0-0 at Carlisle until Forest went ahead in about the 75th minute and then they said right at the end there had been another goal at Brunton Park.

"Thankfully, Forest had got a second.

"If we win and they (Doncaster) lose the job's done and I can see it happening.

"I know the Huddersfield manager (Andy Ritchie) has gone this week, but Doncaster have got a tough game.

"It's a local derby for them and it's a difficult place to go because Doncaster, like us, like to pass the ball around and Huddersfield isn't the greatest pitch in the world.

"Huddersfield got beaten 4-1 (at Oldham) last weekend so their players will have a point to prove.

"There are going to be prospective new managers in the crowd, too.

"Martin Allen has expressed an interest in the job and so have a couple of others.

"They will have people there watching so they are not going in blind if they get the job, and that means the Huddersfield players have got a lot to play for.

"I think if we win and they draw, our fans will be celebrating," Tate adds.

"We would have to lose every game, and lose it badly, and that's not going to happen.

"I think if that's the way it goes, there won't be a celebration on the pitch. We'd just get in the dressing room and say 'Well done, now let's win the league'.

"First and foremost you want promotion, but once you've done that you want to win the league as well," he says.

"We got medals when we came up (in third place) from League Two, but you want the one that says champions.

"That's the recognition that you have the best squad in the league."
