Swansea City will celebrate their promotion to the Championship with an Open Top parade on Monday

In scenes that will remind older supporters of that famous tour in 1981, the Swans will celebrate their return to the second tier of English football after an absence of 24 years.

Ironically it is reported to be the same bus that made that trip back in 1981 that will be used again meaning memories will come flooding back of people on bus stops, roofs and even lamp posts in celebration.

Speaking about the celebration, Swans director David Morgan said "It's a dream come true. Obviously the match on Saturday was not a great game - it was disappointing.

"It would have been nice to go up to the Championship with a win - but it's the results from over the season and not just one game.

"When the result came through that Carlisle had lost, it was celebration time.

He added: "We were given the invitation for the open-top parade and a civic reception by council leader Chris Holley. We will leave from the Vetch field for a bit of history. It's nice the council recognises the importance of the football club - how much will promotion bring into the city?"

Mr Morgan said the club wanted the parade to be held in the early evening so as many people as possible could see the trophy go on show.  The parade will leave the Vetch Field at 6.30pm

"When I was a child I walked the whole route of the bus with thousands of Swans supporters," he added.
