What the two managers had to say after the Swans ended the season with a win at Brighton

Roberto Martinez

“This moment is a very special one for me. In this job you don’t have time to think too much about what you’ve achieved – if you do find time to reflect then you’ll be in trouble.

“But I’ve always been proud and privileged to manage Swansea City and I feel very proud today watching this team celebrate promotion.

“I’ve always said nothing’s better than playing football but I wanted to take Swansea City to the next level. It’s well worth it and shows it was probably the right one. It was very pleasing.”

“Today was all about celebrating our season.

“It would have been fantastic to have got the trophy last week in front of our own fans at the Liberty Stadium. But that didn’t happen so we’ve just got to celebrate with the fans who are here. What happened with Leeds was unfortunate – I’ve not seen anything like it before and I don’t think we’ll see anything like it again.

“But that doesn’t matter – to finish with a win wraps up a terrific season for us and the boys can be proud of what they’ve achieved.”

Dean Wilkins

'I'm pleased with the improvement from last season, especially at home. I think it was really important that we gave out supporters some good performances and some good results and I think we did that consistently over the season.'

Having played against the champions today it has shown us that we're not quite there yet. We need to be stronger mentally, but I think the younger players will get stronger mentally.'
